Does anyone know what is the approximate time one should wait before making InfoPass for not getting biometrics appointment letter?

I'm probably being impatient and getting ahead of myself but I just want to be ready with next steps if something goes wrong.

the NOA1 letter states within 30 days you should receive the ASC letter for photo and fingerprints. If by April 29th you don't get nothing in the mail give them a call or make an infopass.

Thanks katiemanny. I was too happy to receive NOA1 that I don't think even read the whole letter. I'll wait couple more days and maybe next week schedule InfoPass for the 1st week of May.

The way the biometrics appointment notice is worded, it doesn't even sound like you need to bring a green card. That's just one of the photo IDs they will accept, but a driver's license or passport will also suffice. The wording is a little weird, though:

At our bio location, they asked for my husband's green card and drivers license, for him to have his completed.

I guess I am the second to be on the approved list!

"On April 19, 2011, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you."

Also, I actually went on 3/25/11 for early bio.

Good Luck to everyone.

Congratulations H & B!! Wonderful news!! :)

I got approved!!! Hopefully I'll get my card soon because we're in the process of moving!

Oh my!! Another CSC'er. Congrats to you as well, Ansleis!! Its amazing how fast some of you all are getting approved. :)

Hey jucuellar,

Is there a different DMV office near you that you can try to go to? Sometimes small-town DMVs don't get this type of situation and cause unnecessary issues.

My husband just got his license renewed. I thought the 1-year extension was from the date of POE (6/24) but his license expires 1-year from NOA1 (3/29/2012). I don't think it matters much assuming he'll get permanent green card in 6 months.

Make an info-pass appointment and have them stamp your passport. You may need to tell them you didn't get your NOA1. They seemed hesitant to stamp my husband until we explained to them that we didn't get NOA1 and have no proof he is in the country legally. The stamped passport was accepted in North Carolina and we were able to renew my husband's drivers license.

My husband's NOA1 original was accepted in Raleigh- North Carolina and we were able to renew drivers license for one year.

Might be all state has its own rules and requiremnts, but NOA1 should work. Try another big city location.

Fala Juliana!

I'm in TX! the law here states that you only get a DL if you have more than 6 months of US stay on your visa. The letter gives you a year of residence, so you should be able to renew your DL. This is lack of information from the person at the DMV. Either go to a different DMV if you can, or ask to speak with a supervisor/manager at your local DMV.

Ola!

I'm so tired of dealing with the DMV people.. you have no idea.. for some reason they don't understand that the extension letter is valid..to them I had to go get my license when my green card had 6 months prior to expire... Tomorrow I'm going to talk to a Imgration officer on the military base and see if I can get my passport stampted otherwise Iwill have to wait until May 5th for my info pass appt....

Thank you for all the info!
