No. They only ship your case once an interview date has been assigned. Once you get an interview date, just call the AVR or an operator and ask if your case has been shipped yet.

Im mailing my DS-230 today! Should we write something on all of the pages? For example: Case number, etc?

I wrote out case number on most of the documents. Top right hand corner.

It is purely optional.

Have you already paid the AOS and IV fees? If so, did NVC have the AOS package (I-864, taxes, etc) and the IV packet (DS-230, civil documents, etc)? If NVC already have your AOS and IV packets, and you have paid all the fees, then you should be okay. Not all Embassies/Consulates are the same. Some require you to do your medical first and then send them a form before they give you an interview date. In our case (Brazil)... the only thing the Consulate sent was an email telling her to be at the interview on 23May and to bring our IV packet then (but ours was an expedite). Let me do some checking around for you. keep in mind... the DOS can't keep track of every embassy and every consulates procedures, it's not standardized.
