I am putting my docs for the IV to sent by EP and i just realise i can't scan the full length of my marriage certificate. Was wandering if any one has faced a similar problem and how they fixed it. i am able to scan like 90% of it and all the relevant info shows but was just worried they would reject it if not completely viewable.

How long is your marriage certificate? blink.gif I'd call an operator up and ask what you should do. Perhaps scanning one half and then the other half might work.

What about making a copy first at 90% and then scanning that. Thats what i did, since Egypt uses larger paper then we do here.

Yes that is what i have done for now. was just wandering if it would be enough. If they took yours then i guess i will do the same, thanks.

Yes, it is really long (dont know why, i guess they want to clearly cram all info in), its like 2 inches longer than an A3 paper!

Balls! We got an RFE. I was so sure everything would go smoothly from here. I called the AVR today and got the message that "NVC has reviewed your packet of forms and found some information missing or complete..." and thought it was a false RFE while they waited to complete reviewing the DS-230. Good thing I called back to speak to an operator.

They are saying that we need to send police certificates for the times that my husband lived in Mainland China and Taiwan. I told the operator that the State Department instructions say that we only need to send police certificates for other countries that my husband lived in for over 12 months. The operator said that in that case, we need to prepare something in writing after we've received the email/letter from NVC.

So this is what I'm thinking of sending so far:

- A letter explaining that my husband does not need to send police certificates for China and Taiwan because he did not reside there for more than 12 months, according to the instructions on the State Department website

- Copies of his entry/exit stamps in his passport for China (08/16/06-07/10/07) and Taiwan (08/14/08-08/13/09... phew, just under 12 months!)

One additional problem is that we had put his dates of residence in China as 08/2006 to 06/2007 (when he really stayed until 10 days into 07/2007). That was an honest mistake. Do you think this will be an issue and should I address this in my letter?

Please let me know if you think there is anything else that I should include. Thanks so much for the advice!

Hopefully since they issued an RFE in mistake, that it will be resolved quickly! Definitely include the two things you listed above. And I would probably include in the letter about the mistake you did in the dates for residence. I'm sure they'll understand it was a simple mistake. You might want to include an updated DS-230 with the new corrections for dates in case they want a new one to reflect the right dates and issue an RFE for that.

Thanks, Saylin! I really hope this doesn't set us back too much. And sending a corrected DS-230 is a great idea. Do you happen to have an idea of how long it usually takes to get the actual RFE? The AVR message said that a letter was sent on March 21, but the operator said that we would be receiving an email.

Another thing that I am concerned about is that the stamps from China are all in Chinese (duh), so I'm hoping they won't ask for a translation or anything. On the copies of the passport pages, I'm describing exactly where on the page the relevant stamp is. I hope that's clear enough.

I've got no idea how fast they email out RFEs. I would assume a few days though. You should get it this week sometime I expect.

I doubt they'll look much at the stamps. As long as you provide an explanation for it, I think you should be fine.

Good luck and I hope you get the silly RFE letter soon, so you can send off the response.

Thanks so much! I hope so too. I also decided to print out the part of the instructions from the State Department's website about police certificates and am going to highlight the relevant portion, just to drive the point home, hehe.

Got an RFE today on AoS. Line #19 on I-864EZ does not match amount on W-2 form. Only one digit off geez. Well, talked to an operator and told me that's the only issue with my AoS. She also told me I don't need to wait for the RFE email and I could send the corrected form using the bar code cover letter from the payment portal. She also told me that as long as you know what the RFE is for and what exactly it asks for, you can send the required documents using the original bar code cover letter and don't have to wait for the email or use the RFE checklist bar code cover letter. I called and confirmed from two other operators and told me the same thing. And since it's only a minor error on my part and it's the only thing wrong, I'll be sending it right away and hopefully not slow the NVC process for me.

Hi! How did you find out you had an RFE? Did they send you an email, or just by calling?

Hope the minor glitch would be cleared out fast for you.
