So he can not stay in Abu Dhabi he also can not leave Abu Dhabi. We do not know what to do.Does anyone know if embassy of U.S will help us regarding to this problem? For example ask the embassy of UAE to extend the visa for my fiance? Or they do not care? PLEASE PLEASE HELP and give some comment

Moving to AP forum.

Sorry about this if am mistaken.

The provided link has nothing to do with AP, but just about the beginings of this horrendous process. I dont think the moving back to london story is in the same category as the one stated above.

I hope pple come up with more ideas though.

But, is it written anywhere that one can not travel at will if your case is in AP? or is it just the case of not being able to travel cos the embassy has the passports?... just wondering.

He can not go the another country while he is waiting for AP to be over.

I do not believe this to be the case.

I don't understand why he can't return to Iran while he is waiting (kind of guessing this is where he is from). My now hubby had his interview in Turkey and returned to Iran while he waited for the to finish his AP then returned when his number was on the website.

If they kept his passport all he has to do is contact the embassy and they will return it and when they are ready to issue the visa he will return to Abu Dhabi and resubmit it for the visa to be issued.

They don't stop you from pursuing your dreams, they just limit you from bringing unverified people into the US. Some countries it takes longer to verify someone than others , due to a lack of good record keeping , too many people having the same name or pockets of anti American activity. People that can't wait out the verification process are free to pursue their dreams in the other pursue their dream outside the US until the verification process is complete. A lot of what we currently go through is over reaction to 9-11 but then there are isolated things like the Nigerian born undie bomber that provide justification to continue going over everyone with a fine tooth comb.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Did they take his passport?? If they took his passport, he should not be waiting so long for his AP to finish. I would have him go to the embassy in Abu Dhabi and he tell them what is going on.

My fiance, was on AP for 69 days but they gave him back his Visa because usually for Iranians its a 6 week - 6 months wait during AP. But we did ours in Turkey.

What country is your fiance from? Maybe someone who has had their interview done in Abu Dhabi will pitch in? AP is stressful enough as is. You do not need the extra drama.

Hang in there.

He is from IRAN. He can not go back to Iran becasue if he does he has to go to military. Those people who are from Iran know what I am talking about.

Do you think if they put someone for 6 month or more or maybe 1-2-3 years on AP and then at the end say you have to re-apply again. This happened to one of my old friend.Do you think they do not stop people from pursuing their dream?

At least they could check these security check or AP before the interview.

This is not fair and of corse they are stoping people from pursuing their dream.

uhm..exactly my thoughts. all those years of waiting for an interview date (mine was a 4 year wait to interview), all those years, file was just sitting down gathering dust. What a waste.

His dream does not include going into the Military?

People do not stay on AP that long without a reason. You may never know the reason but if you file a freedom of information request you may find out more. Security checks can sometime be very slow. Checks for USC's wanting security clearances can run a year, if you are a false positive in a country with terrible record keeping it can take a very long time to clear that. If they have decided to do a field check that also takes a long time. If your dream was to be together nothing other than owing lots of money to the US government holds you from leaving the US and being with your soul mate in their home country.

I don't know Iran specifically but I am guessing his obtaining a waiver for his military service is a no-go. I know of one thread a while back where a similar thing happened to an Egyptian and I believe he was able to obtain a waiver, but different country.

He will be in AP for however long it takes, no one can speed that up. If he doesn't want to return to Iran while waiting then he must either extend his tourist visa there or just go on a little tour of the countries he can enter with no problem until his AP is finished. How long will this be? Ask the magic eight ball because no one knows.

I do believe though that if he returns to Iran at any time prior to obtaining US (or other country) citizenship he will still be obligated to his military service. Might want to keep this in mind.
