I use iTunes for organization and storage.

I've probably got about 400 mp3 files, but I don't really go out of my way to purchase or acquire music anymore. Instead, I signed up with Pandora (streaming radio) that customizes the music selections to the listeners taste. It's pretty darn good - you can create several different 'radio stations' by giving them a name of one of your favorite artists or bands and then they select other music similar to it. Each song that comes up, you have a choice to give it a thumbs up or down. If you give a thumbs down, they won't play it again. The subscription fee is about $3 a month.

I have pandora (rarely use) on my android phone. It is free.

Are you using Pandora on your pc or did you get an iPad? I know there is an iPad app for Pandora but I don't know if it's a monthly subscription or not.

One subscription covers all your devices and I'm using it on my Android phone and pc. Nathan is right that it is free, up to 40 hours of listening per month, but with ads. I listen to it while I'm working so I go over the 40 hour limit.

ETA: You'll be surprised at the vast selection of music. Just type in any band, artist or song name and it will bring up possible matches. It's really cool.
