WASHINGTON — Khalid Ali-M Aldawsari, 20, a citizen of Saudi Arabia and resident of Lubbock, Texas, was arrested late yesterday by FBI agents in Texas on a federal charge of attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction.

...

According to the affidavit filed in support of the complaint, Aldawsari has been researching online how to construct an IED using several chemicals as ingredients. He has also acquired or taken a substantial step toward acquiring most of the ingredients and equipment necessary to construct an IED and he has conducted online research of several potential U.S. targets, the affidavit alleges. In addition, he has allegedly described his desire for violent jihad and martyrdom in blog postings and a personal journal.

...

The affidavit alleges that Aldawsari also e-mailed himself instructions on how to convert a cellular phone into a remote detonator and how to prepare a booby-trapped vehicle using items available in every home. One e-mail allegedly contained a message stating that “one operation in the land of the infidels is equal to ten operations against occupying forces in the land of the Muslims.”

...

FBI agents also found a notebook at Aldawsari’s residence that appeared to be a diary or journal ... One entry describes how Aldawsari sought and obtained a particular scholarship because it allowed him to come directly to the United State and helped him financially, which he said “will help tremendously in providing me with the support I need for Jihad.” The entry continues: “And now, after mastering the English language, learning how to build explosives and continuous planning to target the infidel Americans, it is time for Jihad.”

In another entry, Aldawsari allegedly wrote that he was near to reaching his goal and near to getting weapons to use against infidels and their helpers. He also listed a “synopsis of important steps” that included obtaining a forged U.S. birth certificate; renting a car; using different driver’s licenses for each car rented; putting bombs in cars and taking them to different places during rush hour; and leaving the city for a safe place.

...

On Feb. 6, 2011, the affidavit alleges, Aldawsari sent himself an e-mail titled “Tyrant’s House,” in which he listed the Dallas address for former President George W. Bush.

...

The charges contained in the criminal complaint are merely allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

I stopped reading at "Khalid Ali-M Aldawsari, 20, a citizen of Saudi Arabia and resident . . . " as that told me everything I needed to know.

Even though that 99 of 100 terrorists are from a certain region (the Middle East) and certain religion (Islam), I'm glad that the US is not engaging in profiling. If we did, we would almost eliminate terrorism in the US and that would create a real dilemma for politicians (of both parties) who need a reason to instill fear to the uneducated electorate in order to feed trillions of taxpayers' money to the US war machine.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

How do you know the fact that this guy was being watched had nothing to do with profiling? I suspect we already do profile, just one of those things we're not supposed to openly talk about.

No, he's not..... a true Texas resident would never do this.

Texas wouldn't claim his sorry azz. He's was foreign student and will soon be a federal prisoner. After that...deported back to the land of sand.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

According to the FBI, the largest terrorist groups are mostly Latino.

The biased media are hiding the fact this guy was really from Bolivia and a born Catholic who later converted to Judaism, because no way are we going to believe this guy hails from the ME much less Saudi Arabia, nor will we think for one moment by Jihad this guy was really out to hurt Infidels in the name Radical Islam. Those sorts of characters are just media propaganda...

It's kind of a stretch, but he might pass for a vato in some circles. Black hair, brown eyes, dark complected. They all look alike.
