I-864 from Joint Sponsor

Gents,

Back again...

I asked before about filling I-864 from sponsor & joint sponsor or fill I-864.

I was advised that if the joint sponsor is sibling to the sponsor & lives in the same house, hence, he is considered a "household member" and he should fill I-864A (signed by Sponsor & household member)

This is in addition to I-864 by the sponsor.

I shocked today as the embassy returned back all papers that I submitted (DS-230, medical, I-864, I-864A,...)

and they asked for the joint sponsor to fill I-864 as well.

How comes? is this a mistake from their side, or a new rule, or it's a mistake from my side?

Thanks

Household member tends to be (father, son, mother, daughter, or spouce). A sibling tends to not be dependent on another sibling for support.

Also household relationships can be one way, I may live in my father' home so be considered a member of his household, however it is his household not mine, he is not a member of my household because he is head of the household.

Is brother's income sufficient to sponsor alone? If yes then have him do an I-864 if not then find another joint sponsor that can provide an I-864.

the case is that my wife is the petitioner

her brother has sufficient income to sponsor me (note that my wife isn't the intendant immigrant, it's me)

her brother is the main income in the house as his father isn't working, in addition, her brother is the owner of the house.

Please advise

Yes, should be fine as long as their income is sufficient to support an immigrant.
