DALLAS — Pastor Stephen Broden from Fair Park Bible Fellowship helped unveil a controversial abortion billboard in New York City Wednesday afternoon.

The three-story advertisement is designed to stir debate, Broden suggested, by declaring: "The most dangerous place for an African American is in the womb."

"Black women do not believe they have an option besides abortion," Broden said. "We want that to be challenged."

Broden is a founding member of Life Always, the pro-life group that paid for the billboard.

Besides being senior pastor at Dallas' Fair Park Bible Fellowship, Broden is also a former Republican congressional candidate.

In this pro-life campaign, Broden compares abortion to genocide and even said the future of African-Americans is in jeopardy.

"During Black History Month, we celebrate our history, but our future is in jeopardy as a genocidal plot is carried out through abortion," Broden said in a news release announcing the billboard on Wednesday.

"We have seen the heartbreaking effects of opportunists who happen to be black abortionists perpetrating this atrocity; it’s not just babies who are in danger, it’s also their mothers, and our society at large," he added.

The Centers for Disease Control reports that black women do have higher abortion rates than whites and other races.

But New Yorkers say the timing and rhetoric is what they find offensive.

"Singling out African-Americans during Black History Month is particularly offensive, and to equate it with genocide and terrorism is really offensive to all New Yorkers," said Letitia James, a New York City Council member who represents a district in Brooklyn.

James is among city leaders asking for the sign to come down, but Broden and others refuse to remove the billboard.

They said it will stay up for three weeks, then will be moved to other major cities.

What I find so funny is: Of all the things to be "offended by" in NYC, some are troubled by this sign.

"The Centers for Disease Control reports that black women do have higher abortion rates than whites and other races."

Thats actually quite an understatement, Black women are way more likely to flush their unborn.

Mother is outraged:

NEW YORK — A New Jersey mother who was shocked to learn that her 6-year-old daughter's face was on a provocative anti-abortion billboard in New York says she's angry she hasn't received an apology from the group responsible for the advertisement.

...

Fraser says the picture used on the billboard was taken at a modeling agency two years ago.

She says she knew it could wind up being used as a stock photograph, but didn't expect anything like this.

If she plays her cards right, she can get her daughter on Opra.
