my Fiancee is asking what she will be allowed to bring to the US.She asked about bringing dried vegtables, homemede sausages,Pueraria Powder,葛粉,Laver. I don't know what those last 3 are, but I know she can bring in dried Vegtables as she sent some to my parents when I came back from China. Also she received her sealed packet for customs and a tube with X rays.Does she turn in the X rays at customs too? I know, insignificant questions, but important to her. Thanks, Bill

As long as food items are not "live" as in fruits, vegetables, seeds, etc. should be OK, packaged foods should be ok. Many on CFL have reported dried meat and sausages is OK too.

X-Ray rarely requested at the POE, it is given to you for you to use later perhaps giving to your family doctor for medical record.

We had it in bottom of carry-on bag, never requested at POE.

A good site for more than immigrations, but life with Chinese I recommend: http://candleforlove.com (CFL or Candle)

These links are helpful: :)

Fruits and Vegetables

Animal Products

Import Regulations and Policies

Also..... depending on where you live in the US you can usually find ethnic supermarkets which stock many of the products she is used to. There are quite a few of them in my area.

Thanks for all the responses. I am suprised about the sausages not being allowed though, She is coming in through Seattle as a POE, and I though it might make through there, but I knew it would have trouble coming through San Franscisco, But thanks for the answers, I will break the news to my lady.
