Worth Extending Indefiniate Leave in UK?

My wife of 2 years is to have her Leave to remain in the UK expire in a couple of months.

However, we're also currently undertaking the process of visa application to move to the US, a process which I expect will take until June/July.

Essentially, we have two options. She can apply for IDR in the UK (at great expense), and continue working here until I leave, or otherwise she can return early to the US and re-establish domicile.

My question is:

- are there any specific advantage to undertaking IDR, as opposed to undertaking the visa application process again if we decide to move back to the UK? I've heard that it is rejected if you don't return to the UK within two years of receipt, and although I presume we would do so, I cannot be sure.

I'm assuming you're doing DCF in London, which won't take as long as filing in the US. But one major issue with DCF is proving domicile and I'm not sure what they would make of your wife applying to remain in the UK permanently. Having her return to the US will add strength to her desire to re-establish her life there and getting a job/finding an apartment etc will all make the move easier. Just something to consider xx
