Hi all, we're really disappointed because we assumed we had all our stuff in order and were ready for our interview. The officer barely asked us any questions about us and said she did not have doubts about our marriage- she asked for new fotos, didnt even look at them just put them straight in the file, health insurance bank statements, she was basically filing anything we gave her.

Then she focused on our I-693 which she said was incomplete !?? at this point i really felt like pulling my hair out :crying: (but remained calm non the less) here's the situation:

In Jordan: I did a full medical for my K1 which was only missing one vaccine. HOWEVER, in Jordan they also don't give you the TB test, they go straight to the source and give yo an x-ray. then the doc fills out the results, seals the envelope and this is given to the embassy.

When I arrived here, I completed another I-693 with the vaccinations completed, and that was sealed and sent off. NOW the officer tells us that my test in incomplete, and that we should go back to the doctor to fill out (what she marked in red) which was pretty much everything....and I told her I had already done my medical back home. but she seemed to not really know the results of that. so she send me back to the doc and tells us to come back when we're done.

I went...and the doctor, said she won't fill out anything because she wasn't the one who did the original test (which is true I did it in Jordan), but I asked her to give me a TB test just in case and we'd get this over and done with (gota visit her in 2 days for the completed form).

So we go back to the center, let the officer know that the doc did not fill out the form but did my TB, and results will be in in 2 days- what shall we do ? I also showed her the instructions on I-693 for K1 applicants, that only the vaccine part is to be completed here.

SO she said she'll investigate this further and contact us back :( she made us sign a paper, but didn't tell us if we'll expect to get our green card or an RFE. she said it could be either, and took our mobile numbers down and I'm just really upset and confused about this whole thing.

It seems some officers don't really know how to put together a file and look at the case properly . has anyone else had problems with their I-693 TB test? or only did an x-ray back home and was fine with just a vaccine update when they arrived to US.

I'm sorry this was so long, I had to give the context though....and just really horrified we have to go through being in limbo for longer. we've been waiting since September and I find it strange that they wouldn't have sent us an RFE on the matter prior to now, if it was the only issue. any advice or similar experiences.... ? thanks

Sometimes the medical results from your visa exam that you turned over at the airport do not get matched up with your AOS file. You could ask if your A-file was ordered. It is supposed to be and is supposed to include your medical. Sometimes they lose your medical file in which case you take the whole exam over again. It's more than clearance from TB. Or perhaps the office in Jordan kept a copy of your results, but many panel phsicians don't.

The TB test wasn't the issue. My country also goes straight to the X-ray.

They probably lost your medical (which should have been in your A file). If that's the case the TB test alone won't be enough and you'll need to do a whole new medical unless you can get a copy of your K1 medical from the panel doc.

Same thing in the Philippines, they go straight to the source and give us a copy of the x-ray results on cd (sealed).

The doctor we went to for I-693 here in the US, does not want to take the x-ray results. The doctor looked at the contents of the cd but he stil does not want to take the results as TB negative.

I just have the doctor do a TB skin test anyway. Two days later, we came back and TB result was negative. My wife signed her name and the doctor sealed the envelope and we we mailed the sealed envelope along with her application for AOS.

Thanks all...the problem is the officer DID have my medical from Jordan, which was only missing one vaccine which I got done with the doc here, and completed another I-693 with first part and vaccine page.

The officer did say she will look at both medical reports again and see if she can go by that. So I believe she was a little under-trained or something.

I did go back to the doc and get a TB test done anyway, just in case. But now I'm worried it's gona be read as a false-positive because as a child I was given BCG vaccine which usually shows up as a false positive- which is why I think in Jordan they simply go straight to the x-ray- a skin test will be read as a false positive.

Like you, the doc here didn't want to look at my chest x-ray results, the cd I wanted to give was 'meaningless' to her. Which I don't really get. and which is why I'm upset that there seems to be no communication and no standard procedures to ensure people are treated fairly.

Same here, the Civil Surgeon we went to see as well would not accept the TB chest Xray and we had to do the TB skin test before he would even consider signing off on the form. Good luck and best wishes on your journey.

Thanks, did you get a positive result on your skin test ? and have you previously taken the BCG vaccine in your home country ?

because I took the skin test yesterday (although the officer didn't ask me to- she just asked me to see the doctor about the missing items on the form-which the doctor then refused to sign) and tomorrow I will go for a reading- which I'm afraid is 'looking' positive, although i'm sure i've never had TB, and have never lived in a high-risk country.

So I'm wondering if I should just wait to hear from the USCIS officer (she tole us she's either send us and RFE or our green card) before going back to a doctor.

People get false positives, so don't worry. They will take x-rays etc to determine your TB status. They can't accept an X-ray from somewhere else because the doctor can't know it's really you on the pic. The Doctor has to do the tests and make the determination and sign off with their signature and their reputation on the line - that's why a CD is "meaningless" to them - they didn't take the xray themselves.

I know it's you on that CD, but if I were a civil surgeon and a stranger walked in and handed me a CD (from who knows where) and told me to read it and sign off that they didn't have TB, I'd say no. I hope you can understand why.

Hi,

I suggest you do the medical again here in USA, It will cost you anything from 200-400, small authorized medical clinics are cheap, I did mine for 220 USD, Second don't worry about the TB test, if it swells more than 5mm, they will do an x-ray and then you will be clear. It probably wont, just don't mess around with it. mine bruised really bad but did not swell. All will be fine don't worry, you will ahve your green card soon.

Yes the TB test was negative and all was good. However, we did have to also have the Hepatitis B which is not required from what others say and also the dang flu shot. Anyways we did them all and he signed the medical form and off we went like little happy campers. That whole civil surgeon is a big mess if you ask me. Even thou, I said he was not required to have the shots, he said well I cannot sign off on this and he will have to sign a waiver. I said forget, just do the dang shots and be done with this. So now we are ready to file soon.
