How pathetic. Corporal punishment should definitely be allowed. This is maybe another parent-teacher initiative that could be explored. The kids need to learn to respect authority.

When I was in school, getting "hacks" with a wooden paddle was the norm. You messed up, and you got whacked.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Ya they are. If we talked back to our parents, teachers, bus drivers...whatever like these little b@ast@rds to today we would have gotten five across the head. Parents nowadays are good for blaming everyone but themselves for their kids being ignorant little hellions. It's all part of the "dumbing down of America".

This is the city I live in.

Here are 2 properties in the $1.5 million range. These would be at least $10 million homes in New Jersey, right?

I plugged one of those street addresses into the New York Time's ACS explorer and identified what is an almost identical neighborhood in central jersey. In Princeton, to be precise. Median household income (adjusted for cost of living using CNN cost of living calculator), racial composition, educational attainment etc. Then I looked within that neighborhood and found similar (going by # of bedrooms and sq footage) homes in the 2.5M+ range. Not 10 million.

Here's one.

Meanwhile, a recruiter from an IT firm based out of Detroit has been telling me how awesome of a place Detroit is.

I lived outside of Detroit for 10 years. Its not awesome  However, Michigan itself is GREAT state ...but you need to be around Ann Arbor if you're gonna live near Detroit..

Man, 60 kids though is going to be rough in any school. I'll say a prayer for those kids :innocent::crying:

...same here...both the VP of my elementary and Jr High schools proudly displayed their variety of paddles. Alot of them were crafted in shop class and given to him...it was no big deal back then.

However, I think that there probably isn't a big enough paddle in Detroit for 60 kids in one classroom...:wow:

That just means that LI can buy 4 of them, since they're only a measley 2.5M+:lol:

Well, the problem with the public education system today, is it's very much controlled by hack politicians/individuals who want to brain wash kids in their own way. At least when it comes to things like social studies/history/science.

Just look at the big ordeal with the Texas board of education and their deciding what to put in the social studies books this past year. The scary part about that one, is that a good majority of the nation uses those exact same books because they don't have the buying power Texas has. So you really don't have a choice in the history your child is being taught, eventhough it might be revisionist.

Math and Reading are about the only two subjects that cannot be really tainted by politics/those with an agenda. No matter what that agenda may be.

I agree, Texas should not be in charge of the contents of our school books.
