-Unions played a part in driving all those Union job up north, first down south..and then overseas.

It would be sweet if we could control the whole world but since we can't we are a slave to market forces.

Fact is, all those "union heavy" urban areas have not only lost jobs, they have been bleeding people as well, the only Northern city to not loose population is NYC. It';s not that people are not leaving but immigration has offset it.

- The last and fattest cow left to milk "is" the Govt. after all, we know they are not moving to China ... and what are the odds they can go belly-up?

Could it be that perhaps unions are not the only population dynamics-inducing factor in determining urban populations? Unions operate just as much in smaller population zones. If you can break down the flow of population by origin/destination and average cause for each break down, I'm sure the readers here would thank you as I would.

It would seem that's their MO unfortunately. All this ridiculous isolationism really does keep people in stone ages.

I fail to see how that is what the unionized workers want. In fact, they are willing to accept the budget cuts, so no. Its not about spending in a continued pattern, increase spending, or printing more and more money.

Details, details.

Luckily, I don't meet many people who actually compartmentalize the world so uniquely as some of the lovely folks here on VJ.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Luckily, you live in a bubble?

Chances are, so do they. They in all likelihood don't come across your type in their day to day either. Why is this a good thing?

Elections happen and people end up shocked at what their fellow citizens did. Why? Because we live in bubbles and refuse to get to know them.

Black and white thinking. I think it might have something to do with too many nutrients and not enough mental and physical exercise.

I also like this kind of reasoning. People are far too locked up inside their own little worlds that they miss the entire world going by them.

HAL? is that you?

Someone sent me a message asking the same darn thing. No, sorry.

While you have a point, at the same time elections are often decided by people who make last minute decisions as well. It's either one really good thing one guy said to get people to vote for him or one really bad thing someone said to get someone to vote against them... The people who are 'well informed' on candidates are few and far between.

Like it or not, if people were 'well informed' Obama would have never won the election, let alone gotten the Democratic nomination. The same goes doubly so for John McCain....
