Hi, I've been issued my social security number since January 14th and the bank is still saying it's not issued when I try to open an account. I feel like it's also the reason why online jobs i apply for that require u entering ur ssn are not accepting it. I just called the ssn place for the second time and they said all is well on their end and it shows my number active and ok. Anyone has any idea why its saying "not issued" elsewhere? even when I use an online validation tool it says number not issued. I am frustrated

This is common, the bank looks up the number on a document located on SSA.gov, if the number is from a new series, "Low number" the document refereed to by bank may not show the number being in a valid series.

Anyway you should be able to be added to an account, ask for a branch manager, or threaten to take your banking elsewhere.

More than likely the bank is using the January list, or older.
