There is no doubt a 40 years age difference can be considered significant at any level. Of possible interest Hugh Hefner of Playboy is getting married to a woman 60 years younger than he! Believe an important point is that you be well grounded in your feelings, and understand the ramifications of you age difference. I myself am concerned about the 15-year age difference in our relationship knowing my future spouse will more than likely need to begin a new life after my passing (hopefully a long ways away), and the prospect of possibly depriving her of what should be her best youthful years on this earth.

I think it is important to understand that not only will the consulate scrutinize your relationship, as some members of this board have, you can expect to be scrutinized by society every day you are married -- rightly or wrongly. I suspect your interview will become minor compared to the pressures brought on by others. However, it is not up to anyone but yourself as to your decision in this regard. Suggest you look beyond your current feelings, and your need for approval, and rationalize what your future holds in being married to someone old enough to be your grand father, and what ramifications it will have in you enjoying a joyful and fulfilling life ahead. It is not up to immigration to tell you whom you can marry or not marry, however, if the story appears slanted more towards gaining access to the US versus a true conveyance of your understanding what being married and living life together, more than likely you are looking at a denial.

The inferences that you become pregnant for the sake of improving your chances of immigration is just garbage and in my view in itself fraudulent and with no consideration of a babies life or your true feelings. Good luck on your journey.

Hold on. The only reason I mentioned the birth control was because my friend and her husband (who subsequently was approved) was grilled about whether they used birth control and why. My friend was specifically asked if she thought her husband married her in order to get his green card and the fact that he didn't want a child initially was mentioned. They were separated in their interview also.

I said that they would have a better ride because of that. How does that infer that I want her to get pregnant to get approved? Shes 23. She has a right to live her life and enjoy her 20's before having a child especially if she is planning on having her child to be in a particular month.

The truth is when people marry for immigration benefits, one of the things that they don't want is to have a child together. Why have a child together when you aren't intending to stay with the other spouse? If you read the forum where USC's get played ..the spouse that changes on approval never wanted a child with the USC spouse.

The OP mentioned that her intended bought her birth control. If she didnt want anyone to comment on it then she shouldnt have said a thing. I dont get why people mention personal information that noone asks about and then gets bent outta shape with the resulting comments.

Seeing as this thread is being deleted then I may as well say what I feel. :innocent:

Ps. What part of my post was against TOS?
