I won't get upset, LOL!.....Well i they won't know that he wants a baby, because we won't bring it up, and if they do, we just simply tell them that we are planning on getting pregnant in december, and if they ask why december, we say because we want the baby to be borned in a a certain month....how's that?

But seriously though we know all these questions will arise so we are almost prepared for their interrogation.

I am 24 this year by the way.

Hi Shelly, just some information that can help you with this process:"Get some tough Skin" I don't think anyone on this site was trying to hurt your feelings at all,but it was just to prepare you. If you can deal with the negative replies from the VJ family, then you can deal with the CO. AT the end of the day no one can tell you who to love, but just remember it's your bed , so will make it. my thoughts to you is "Keep GOD first in all that you do and in your marriage and communicate" rexpect each other and pick your battles. You'll needs to cut it out, it is no ones business when this couple will decide to have a baby or not, it definitely is not USCIS business. You'll are now making assumptions.

I had no idea my employer was reading what I post on FB until someone got fired. I'm not 100% sure they do, but I am 99.99% sure that they do come here randomly

Hi Shelly,

Ive dated a lot of older guys myself and i know as a jamaican a lot of times we're looking for that stability our parents always stressed to us to look for in a man and unfortunately most times it takes an older man....Im happy you found that and you guys are in love! However

I read all these replies and girl ur really gonna have to have a better attitude in the interview...REALLY...A friend of mine was in a similar position not as big of an age gap but big enough and she was drilled over and over again same questions for hours...U know your marriage is real but they dont and its your job to prove to them that it is, all the odds are against you but you have to stand your ground and show them that its real and it will last. The replies you got i dont think were meant to offend you but think about someone in your face for hours askin you these same questions over and over again ur gonna get frustrated but you cant show it just tell the truth and youll be fine, no need to make up answers because you think thats what they wanna hear cuz trust me they just might get ur husband to say some things you never though he would(i want a baby and she's not ready) so just be careful..

Anyway, i wish you all the best girl and go ahead and have that baby since ur gonna have one anyway trust me it will definitely help,,a few months early wont besides the guy is runnin out of time!

As most have said above, be prepared for the questions from the IO regarding the age difference. People can and have been questioned on the age difference whether it be 2 years difference or 40. I suspect you will be grilled even harder. Learn now how to bite your tongue while being honest in how you respond. You may be 24, but if the way you have typed some of your responses to the board says anything, it shows a very young and at times very immature girl. Why would someone in his 60s want/need someone with so much growing up to do? Those are the types of questions the IO might just want to ask you and your old man.

Also, if you are going to ask questions, expect answers from a variety of viewpoints. No need to tell anyone to shut up. If you continue this behavior, your name will be recognized as someone not to even bother with giving advice/suggestions/tips to. Most of us on this board have gone through the immigration process in one form or another and speak from experience and prior knowledge.

My husband and I have a 20-year age difference and I am also concerned about this being a red flag to immigration.

Thank you to all who have posted examples of questions that an IO might ask .... this is a great help for me! I appreciate this forum because it allows people like my husband and I who are just starting on our journey, to benefit from the experiences of others who have (and are) going through the same process.

The best thing we can do is be prepared, stay calm and tell the truth!

Age gaps are a red flag. You can actually look at the field adjudicators manual on the USCIS website to see what they list as red flags. You will almost certainly be scrutinized extra hard with such a large age gap. Your relationship is real, so just tell them the truth. No need to make up lies about wanting to have a child in a certain month, tell them the truth and you won't get tripped up. Some people choose not to have children at all, there is nothing wrong with that! Some of the replies here are harsh, but try to take it with a grain of salt and be prepared because your IO might be a lot harsher. My husband and I have a much smaller age gap (8.5 years) but I had already been married and divorced by 24 and I got questioned a TON, the interviewer implied I was a floozy and might not know who my baby's father was, etc. - and I was the USC! Get your ducks in a rough and keep a thick skin and you should be fine.

Well, its not unheard of to date older men. Many woman have done it, and in fact, there are men who date and marry much older woman (Ashton and Demi come to mind). Expect some questions, and have lots of proof. Thats all thats necessary. And we here on VJ will ask you questions that an interviewer might ask. Its not to hurt your feelings or be mean, it just helps prepare you for what you might encounter in your interview.

Good luck, and I hope your process goes well.

Invictus..

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the Pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll.

I am the master of my fate:

I am the captain of my soul.
