Any 'work authorization stamp' in her passport is as useless as the ink it is printed with. Just an FYI> You'll have to apply for the EAD separately

Good luck

The POE at LAX Tom Bradley terminal forgot to take my wife's sealed envelope and stamped the I-94 with a date that doesn't exist on any known calendar. Check the I-94 very carefully.

ya, silly stuff to do at the POE -

1. review the I-94, checking there is a 90 day span

2. ask the CBP person to READ and SPELL the name that he/she just entered into the computer, after it's entered.

3. hand over the sealed envelope.

4. ask the CBP person to make sure that it's a K-1 visa type that he/she's entered onto the computer.

re: sushi. really? don't want to find LA-area Chinatown, get some real food prior to heading north?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

i will do that.

Make sure the name is spelled correctly. Incorrect info on the I-94 leads to hassles getting your social security number. Southern California is known for sushi, where are you staying near ?

yeah, we both love sushi, but dont know any good one, we stay in radisson right next to lax. i might just ask see if anyone work in the hotel know any good one around.

i will let her know that.

last time i was down there, we went to a chinese restaurant(HongKong style). it's good all my friends like that. but we both from guangdong and she goes to hongkong all the time, so no fun if in the US still eat that style of cooking.

first meal,i was thinking BK... ok just kidding. i was thinking water grill on the central ave, i heard good review about them.

LGC, Congrats on your Fiancees impending arrival in the US. my Lady is coming in on Saturday at Seattle POE.I own my own Tax Business, so Saturday is better than a weekday for me to meet her at the airport. Also it will give us Sunday off before I have to return to work.I will have a 3 hour wait in the airport before she arrives, and then a 6 hour wait before our flight back to Idaho. But after the 9 month wait on a Visa, 9 hours isn't bad.I was thinking about going out into Seattle with her to get her something to eat too, but with all the bags shes bringing, that would be hard. And the airline that we are taking to Idaho just has you hand your bags to them as you are boarding the airplane, no prior bag checkin. Small commuter airlines.Besides the last time I tried to check a bag from Seattle to Lewiston, It ended up going to Chigago and didn't arrive in Lewiston for almost 2 weeks. We will just hand them the bags when we board the plane.

Congrats to you too! i have all her bags ship back to minnesota while we stay in LA(bag checking fee+over weight), much cheaper just use airline cargo to ship the bags back. lol. not sure do the airline you were taking check for weight or any bag fee.

yeah, i got 6 hours wait in LA, lucky i can get to some of the wholesalers and get all the work done within that 6 hours.

LGC, I am happy to hear she arrived safe, and no problems at Customs. Tomorrow is my day. I leave here at 4am and my lady arrives in Seattle at 11am. the Sea Tac Airport website says it taked about 1 hour to get through customs, So I will see her around noon. Then we will be home by 7:30pm. There are only 3 flights a day out of and into my city from Seattle, so it will be a long day. But hopefully a happy one.

LGC, I don't expect to see a reply from you soon. Now that your lady is here, spend your time with her, not sitting in front of a computer talking to us. Thats an order, Bill

LGC and Everybody, Well, She is here. Her plane arrived in Seattle an hour late and it took another hour for her to get through customs, but she is here alive and safe. She did have some airsickness (motionsickness) and she said she threw up on the plane, so she wasn't in a good mood when she arrived. And so far she hasn't seen too many things she likes about America yet, she misses her family very much and hates American food so far, but all those things are normal. She just made the biggest change in her life, and while I could warn her about the changes and feelings, everyone goes through them differently. That was why I was asking weeks ago if anyone knew what food people from China seem to like in America. I will ask her cousin, who owns a chinese Restaurant in our town. Maybe they can help me cheer her up. Bill

My wife was the same when she arrived. Do you have skype or QQ so that she can talk to her mother, this is a life saver? Also you may want to see about getting cable with some Chinese stations so she can watch some TV when you go to work or she may get bored pretty quick.

Bill,

I'm glad your SO arrived safely although she got sick on the way. Traveling long distance is no fun.

At least she has a cousin in your town who speaks her language.

All the best to you and your SO!! :)

Dan Ling, Yes, yesterday was much better. Her body is still on Chinese time, so she slept from 11pm, to 4:30pm Sunday afternoon, then I forced her out of bed and to the local Sprint Store.I got her a cellphone with a keyboard, internet, and calling to China. That way when I am at work, she can call her cousin, me,or her parents. We got QQ on the phone immediately and then her attitude changed. Now she felt connected to her family and her friends and wasn't so alone.I also had her call her mother on Skype on Saturday night, but I don't know if that really helped, because her mother wouldn't stop crying. Her mother missed her and told her so, of course I don't speak Chinese, so I don't know what they were saying, but her mother was very sad, I could see that.

Jinyi went online on Skype again last night and talked with her mother and both were a lot calmer.I have been through this before, so I know how hard the first few weeks and months are. That was why I did the Fiance Visa thing, because that way she knows that if she hates America, she does have the option of going home to her family and country. It will take a while before she thinks of my home as her home. But I have been making a point of calling it her home, so over time she will start to think that way.
