ROVE: Republicans had better be clear about this.

We had a problem in the 1950's with the John Birch Society, and it took Bill Buckley standing up as a strong conservative and taking them on.

Within our party, we've got to be very careful about allowing these people who are the birthers and the 9/11-deniers to get too high a profile and say too much without setting the record straight.

BILL O'REILLY: What percentage of Republican voters -- 5%, 10%?

ROVE: I don't know, but whatever it is, it ought to be less, because we need the leaders of our party to say "Look, stop falling into the trap of the White House and focus on the real issues."

O'REILLY: You know this stat that was put out -- that 51% of Republicans...

ROVE: ... look, this is a lousy poll.

O'REILLY: I know it is, but it's going to be picked up -- it already has been by the mainstream media.

ROVE: Absolutely.

O'REILLY: To demonize the rest of the Republican party.

ROVE: Sure, it fits into the White House theme-line.

O'REILLY: But isn't that smart of the White House to do that?

ROVE: Oh, absolutely.

Look, these guys may be lousy at governing, Bill, but they're damn good at politics.

O'REILLY: So it's a smart strategy....

ROVE: ... sure it is, because if we are where we are, which is we have a group of people out there who keep repeating this, and we've yet to get into a place where candidates are being asked about this in debates -- look, don't you think in the Fox debate or one of these debates that's gonna be televised, candidates are going to be asked about this?

If they'd step forward and say "Look, we've got better things to talk about, then to fall into this trap that the White House has laid for us", this issue will start to go away.

See I agree with Rove. Now Obama the Socialist just needs to show the proof and shut them up. Stop spending what is over a million dollars to keep it under wraps. After all if there is a short form there has to be the long original form right?

A year away from the election? What's the point?

I thought he was Canadien. N'est pas?

That's just another trap that Rove is talking about.

It is true that the Original campaign slogan was "Yes we're Canadian" before it got shortened to "Yes we Can"

but that was just another devious trap.

Paul McCartney recently visited the whitehouse to apologize for not participating in Harrisons' Concert for Bangladesh.

See as long as the Republicans are obsessing about where he came from they wont be able to see where he is going

Notice the continuing obfuscation? (means BS basically). He doesn't do what is simplest and most honest which is to advocate stating clearly that Obama is a US born citizen, not muslim, etc. No, Rove would not want to clarify this for the cerebrally challenged 'base' of the GOP. Rather he uses a very lawyer-like language to avoid at all costs actually stating what is obvious to anyone both intelligent and informed. Typical!

I am sure the liberals here agree with Karl Rove, because...they always do, right? Karl Rove is the ultimate authority on everything.

Actualy though, since I would get an RFE for a petition for a K-1 non-immigrant visa if I did not include a copy of my birth certificate, why is it not required to be listed in the ballot for President of the United States?

Also...show of hands please...

Who here thinks that you SHOULD have to show a birth certificate to get a passport so you can go ice skating in Montreal for the afternoon but SHOULD NOT have to show a birth certificate to be on the ballot for President of the United States? Anyone?

We need not spend ANY money or time on this. The 2012 elections are coming. On the application form to be listed on the ballot simply add "attach copy of birth certificate". Case closed.

Like they do with the I-129f.

I believe the USC is not required to produce a birth certificate if he or she can produce a copy of a US passport. Certainly was the case for the I-130; don't know why it would be different for the I-129F. By your reasoning, Obama could fulfill your demand by showing his passport, for which you must produce (for the first one at least) a birth certificate, no? Or is a passport not up to snuff?unsure.gif

It is a requirement to be President to have been BORN in the United States or its territories. It is NOT a requirement to have been born in the United States or its territories to have a US passport. It is also possible the passport can say "unknown" as one of our sons green cards does even though they had his birth certificate for all the documents. When he gets a US passport his country oif birth will be "unknown". Why would anyone be against being required to document you meet the requirements to be President if you must do so to get a fiancee visa?

Now that you have attempted to dodge the question...

Who thinks the requirements to go ice skating in Montreal should be more stringent than the requirements to be President?

People who have not proven the meet the legal requirements to hold the office should not be on the ballot. we do not need to spend ANY money or time on this.
