CPAC Immigration Panel: Readying the Fight to Save the GOP and White America

Now in my area we are pretty much conservative in outlook and get this. There are many minorities that are my neighbors and friends that agree with conservatives. Our only arguments are what type of conservatives. Social conservatives who I sneer at as Socialist Lite to the more Libertarian thinking. Strangely we all love our Congressman Ron Paul the same.

OK AJ. We know you think all us whites or at least a majority are racist. That is OK actually. We are used to it and have become immune to it. We used to beg forgiveness and try to not give offense but it is tiresome and I could clearly give a care, I have and I am sure many just know that no matter what we think or care about that we will painted in a broad brush stroke as a racist simply because the color of our skin. Nothing to do about that because we will not give up our views (May modify them as we age) to simply not give offense.

Just as a try here though please read actual history and see who and what party has done the momentous fight for freedom to minorities and which party it was that blocked all the attempts. Try to see the other side as I have done. I was raised in the south and the Socialist party was the party of the south and I grew up through the changes and know both sides. At the least try to study some of this.

I'm much more concerned with the "who" and less with "what party". Why? Because the group of white people who opposed civil rights are no longer democrats - that particular subset of white people are now the base of the republican party in the old south.

I'm much more concerned with the "who" and less with "what party". Why? Because the group of white people who opposed civil rights are no longer democrats - that particular subset of white people are now the base of the republican party in the old south.

Except actually they never left the Democrat party but stayed there. This is why you need to read the history. Everyone knows of the few high profile targets that were ranking KKK that were a Senator and Congressman but there were many more than that. The reason the GOP was able to take over the south was because of the voting rights act. Yes that same act that gave everyone the right to vote. Blacks were a minority so how did they finally start getting into office? They had to have votes from the majority to do so. Your party you seem to love we see as evil because they are still fomenting racist ideas. We see people characters and not the skin. They see the skin only.

I am white so I am a bigot. That is wrong on many levels.

No, the GOP isn't all White, but it's not about just about race. I'm currently a Republican, but I won't be for much longer. During the past couple of years that I've attended conferences, tea parties, seminars, and watched/read interviews with conservative leaders, their rhetoric has made it clear to me that if you're not Christian, you're not worthy. So, f'em. White or not, I'm gone.

In the same way, if the GOP wants to dissociate themselves from the label of bigotry they need to clearly and explicitly condemn it. I give McCain credit during the campaign for correcting his deluded supporters. Such honesty is rare in that crowd! This whole Obama is muslim/socialist/the antichrist/not born in america is used by the GOP and its ever-growing tea-party wing to whip up the ignorant masses. Rabble-rousing is another accurate term! It may yield short-term gain for the GOP but in the end we will all be worse off for tolerating this absurdity!

I never said I thought the GOP was all-white, all-straight, all-Christian. I may be a LWN, but I'm no moron. There is no big tent any longer in the Republican party as there once was; as Sofiyya says, the rhetoric implies that conformity to one philosophical and ideological viewpoint is necessary to stay in the party.
