In preparation for our I-130 approval, what are some things that my wife and I can have prepared beforehand? I read LingChe NVC ShortCut but am confused about this...

Try to have all documents below in the hands of the Petitioner, before the NVC process begins. This should be done BEFORE your I-130 petition is approved

Does this mean that my wife, the beneficiary, should complete all these documents, then mail them to me (petitioner)? And then I submit them to NVC?

Thank you in advance for your help,

Burebista

James's Shortcuts Here is another "shortcut" link that helped me kind of put it together. That and reading and researching some links. There will be an affidavit of support bill posted on the nvc website and then a few days later they generate the 3032 (choice of agent) for being the contact person with the NVC. Where the documents come from in the world it doesn't matter. I'm the agent for my wife and she sent in her 230 packet directly. Saved time and money. After a good skype video call going over the packet , we sent it. Now we're waiting.

If you send in the info, don't forget to download and print the packet cover pages from the NVC, it helps all (barcoded for quicker processing). My wife has an all in one printer( most useful gift I ever gave her!) she scans in her docs and sends me the copies. I took it with me on one of my visits.

Hope this experience helps some, my fingers are crossed for all of us!!!

Thank you for the feedback. I had found James's Shortcuts also, and wondered about his Step Zero. It seemed he felt that if the beneficiary signed the DS-3032 and mailed it to the U.S. petitioner, it was supposed to save time. He also advices that the spouse should do the same with DS-230. Sounds like your spouse is sending her documents in from her location. Is the fact that it takes longer for foreign mail to arrive at NVC the idea behind James's time saving ideas?

I think it depends on who the agent is for receiving the RFE's and or other mailed things from the NVC. The USC would be best IMO since it doesn't have to go through foreign mail. As for sending things where it originates doesn't matter to the NVC, as long as it's in the format (bar coded cover sheets) they prefer. One reason we were not exactly on the shortcuts page is the police or NBI clearance took 1 week to process since her name had changed to mine and the IV bill got paid the same time we obtained clearance.

So we sent it directly after a call to the NVC in which they told us it was ok for the beneficiary to send it, even though I'm the agent. Hope this makes some sense. As for it being quicker, we just lost 1 day by doing it this way (3 day holiday weekend) in which the DHL still moved packages on the weekend! It should arrive on Tuesday, mailed last Wednesday night.

BTW, James shortcuts is a bit outdated I fear. It is a general overview and not to be followed strictly in my opinion. The NVC will generate the ds3032 with barcode on it and can be downloaded, signed, and pdf'd back to NVC. We used the email template 3 different times and no response over 3-5 days. Nothing....then I called and the gentleman said they're generating the barcoded ones on line post AOS payment for us and to use it. We did and everything broke loose for us. They eventually did respond to the other emails, I speculate they were just backed up on processing emails is all.

Bottom line, as soon as you get the barcoded sheets, slap it on the package and send it to NVC no matter where in the world it originates.
