Passport for Packet 3

Hey there!

My Lawyer said in an email that my son HAS to have a passport (a copy of it) for the P3. Now consindering we are Canadian, I didn't bother obtaining one for my child because he can cross the border (on land) without a passport. All he needs is his Birth Certificate and a copy of his custody documents (I have sole custody). Is this correct? I am slightly confused because at the very beginning of the K-1 process, my Lawyer asked for a copy of my childs passport only if he had one and if he doesn't, then we shouldn't worry. If anything, it would make more sense for him to need a passport for the actual interview, that way they can put the visa in it for him.

All opinions/answers would be greatly appreciated.

Thank-you :)

His "visa" will be glued to a page in his passport. He needs a passport now but didn't need one at the time the petition was filed.

Thank-You. :D

Now I am frustrated because I wish I had known that he would have needed it eventually (i.e I should have been warned at the beginning of the process...) *sigh

*crossing my fingers that the expedite goes well*

I didn't know that a child didn't need a passport to cross by land into the US. Do you know what age that changes? My daughter and grand daughter will be coming to visit me at some point. Daughter has had a passport for years and renewed. It would be great if she didn't have to get one for my grand daughter right away :-)

Hey JeannieL,

Here is the link that states that children under 15 traveling by land to the U.S only need proof of their Canadian Citizenship as well as the other appropriate travel info (parental consent etc.) >.<

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

IMO/E, lawyers are not so useful.

READING is useful, however.

Purty Please?

while / whilst yer laughing out loud.

I'm shatting 4 kilos of organic mass, thinking....

yer approach isn't my approach.

The opportunity to 'laugh out loud'

normally occurs

when

you've gleaned all, have knowledge assimilation.

I truely feel you've not reached that point.

Seriously.....

Try the advanced search feature..... as yer missing a vital point.
