medical costs/co-pays, security deposit on rental, rental insurance (living in hurricane country now), phones, sunscreen :D . . . The up side is that you won't need winter coats and boots, though :)

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

How about insurance? Do your company benefits include 100% of your health insurance costs, or do they only cover a percentage? Health insurance can be pricey (as I'm sure you know!). Also, car insurance since you have a car. Renters insurance for your personal property. Generally speaking, Florida's rates are higher than a lot of other states because loss ratios are high. It probably wouldn't be a huge difference to what you're paying now, but still an expense.

If you guys are anything like us, we need to budget at least $200 a month for fun things. I consider some fun a necessary expense to keep my sanity!

Edit: Kathryn beat me to the insurance! :)

LUCKILY we own our car outright...

And we pay $25.00 for vonage, wich I have included in our cable and internet bill... I think we can do this.. YAY for leaving boonville!!! Hopefully I can impress them enough on friday and get the job. After all this research, if I dont get it Im gonna kick something!

I get full benefits, health, dental, vision and vacation time. I will have to look at renters insurance and car insurance too. For now we are leaving our car insured here (for a few months anyway, just to get a leg up).

Invictus..

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the Pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll.

I am the master of my fate:

I am the captain of my soul.

You still need liability insurance for your car. Both of you need coverage. It's a FL thing.

I'm not sure, it's been a few years. Shop around while you're still registered and insured out of state.

With an older vehicle and clean driving record and if you don't change your insurance provider your rate may not change. I lived in Arizona and moved to Florida and went down a few dollars. But location could make a difference too.

Thank you! That link was pretty handy :) I think I have it under control. Now I just have to sail through my interview (shouldnt be a problem, I have experience and training) and look into Uhauls and such things..

Hope you get the job, Cora! Florida was hit hard with the mortgage crisis so WPB properties are super cheap right now. And you can always live in the surrounding area where it's even cheaper. Plus Florida is a super cheap State for groceries, booze, clothes, etc. And you get discounts at the attractions for being a resident! And, as Flames says, there is no State tax so that gives you a hefty return at tax time. We just moved from there last year and I really miss it.
