For the Greek ex (fiancee, never married though):

- Met her on video game forums, we started dating

- She visited California a few times, I visited Greece

- Got engaged at north side of Golden Gate bridge (rather the area north of the bridge overlooking the bridge and city)

- Filed for K1 visa (see timeline)

- Found out she lied about a lot of stuff, she initially lied about it until I showed her the evidence I collected and she admitted she was a compulsive liar and wanted my sympathies

- Decided to fund her a trip back to Cali to talk to me in person and make amends, she flaked, called countless times to apologize and try and engage my sympathies again

- I was in my mid 20s so I was like I'm too old to be repairing someone a couple years older than me, not worth it.. broke up and a few months later in 2008 cancelled K1 beginning of 2009

For my wife:

- Met her in an MMORPG in 2009 (friends down the street knew I worked in the video game industry so introduced me to PWI where I met wife)

- Started dating after a year of being friends early 2010

- She visited California numerous times over that span of being friends/dating.. got engaged summer 2010

- She came to California October 2010, we got married in Santa Clara, California, she visited again in December to January over holiday (4 weeks) and she got pregnant

- Had to decide who was moving where, she left it up to me, I decided Canada

- Moved to Canada April 2011 (didn't want wife to go through pregnancy alone, so I came and since I couldn't work for a while I made sure to attend every OB/OBGYN/doctors visit, acquired 2 year visitor record from CBSA for extended stay while filing PR inside Canada

- Mailed Canada PR summer 2011

- Daughter born October 2011

- PR approved 2 weeks later in October 2011, arrived Buffalo Canadian embassy for interview and to pick up landing papers, landed a few hours later in Queenston-Lewiston, Niagara Falls region

- Lived in Ontario a few years, found getting a job tough there since they wanted to disregard my American education and experience

- Moved to Calgary, Alberta, just a few weeks after the floods in 2013

- Citizenship filed 2014, approved 2015, exam/oath/ceremony 2015

- We plan on having at least 2 more kids, I'm hoping for at least 1 boy

- Was going to pay to renounce US citizenship in 2016 (reluctantly, for tax purposes.. had decided this years ago), but after Trump elected and economic problems in Canada changed my mind and decided to hold onto it in case we want to move to US.. daughter owed US citizenship, would have to file for wife's PR if we do.. will wait a few years and see how things in Canada pan out, would rather stay here after acquiring another business degree.

We met via my significant other, and were friends for years. Dee would visit our home on vacation. After some years, my S.O. passed away. Dee continued to visit and eventually we saw one another in a different light. Who knew we'd end up doing this weird and tedious bureaucracy thing!
