It's interesting to see how many people also met online. Neither of us was at all interested in finding a relationship, especially one online, but we reckon that speaking to somebody online without any physical influence can make you come to know someone much more deeply than if you just went on a few dates. I was incredibly unhappy at the time we met, and having someone who understood me so intricately turned everything around. We met on holiday in Canada almost a year after we met, and now we've been living together in Australia for a year. We're so fond of all the little details of our story, so much that we've dedicated hours to retelling it on a blog. We live in a great age.

but we reckon that speaking to somebody online without any physical influence can make you come to know someone much more deeply than if you just went on a few dates.

I took this exact advice from people and it turned out to be about the worst decision of my life. The "just went on a few dates" makes this a false dichotomy. There aren't only two choices of: a) more than a year of online interaction vs. b) a few dates in person.

Manipulative people are chameleons that become whoever you want, and the best environment for them to operate in is one that allows them to control what the victim sees about them. Like online.

Living in close proximity to someone is far superior in terms of knowing their family, friends, school cohorts, etc. along with the ability to see with your own eyes whether actions are meeting the words they are speaking. That is how I did it, by actually living in the same house as her family for almost four months after we had met and decided we were serious about each other. On the other hand, my manipulative ex-wife got me so deep into believing her bullcrap before we started anything physical that I excused what I saw with my own eyes because she had many, many months of being this ideal person while it was a long-distance relationship.

I met Julia at a foreign dating website: www.chineselovelinks.com and I'm not ashamed.

Yes, foreign dating website, the 21st century equivalent to the infamous "mail order brides" phenomenon that is the epitome of depravity etc., etc. Let me tell you something, it was my best decision ever.

Been there lol

I also met my husband when I was teaching in Korea. He came to visit his best friend, one of my friends there, and we met in a bar. I knew then that he was amazing and quite possibly the love of my life, but he left and went back to England. Four months later he came back to teach, and on NYE, we met again in the same bar randomly.

T'was fate.

I love a guy who looks like he could be on Criminal Minds as either an agent or a killer.
