Hello everyone :star:

Ok, I'm new here & was looking around to learn more about immigration issues in hopes to find answers to my own situation.

However, I notice that almost all cases here are related to couples/marriage type profile... but, I'm single (>21yrs old) & getting my papers done thru a (used-to-be PR) parent who is now a USC.

My original I-130 was filed back in Jan '01 when my parent was still a GC holder... that changed to USC in Dec '04. Years went by & I haven't heard much of anything happening... I'm not even sure I know how to read the Visa Bulletin board correctly & what those dates really meant

Anyways, a yr ago I asked the lawyer who's doing my case how things were going & he said 'nothing right now' & to check back in a month.

Well, time flew by & 2 weeks ago I called up (so much for the monthly checkup) & found out that my case was supposed to be updated already... so the lawyer sent in a letter to immigration & last week on 8/25 I received an email notice that my I-130 was sent to CSC.

Today, I rec'd this: "Current Status: On August 30, 2006, your I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN was received here for processing. We will mail you a decision as soon as processing is complete. You can use our processing dates to estimate when this case will be done. Follow the the link below for current processing dates."

Of course, I don't quite know what this means in terms of how long it will be before my case is approved so that I can move ahead.

Anyone care to answer this one? Are we talking 3, 6, 12, or more months before something happens?

I'm not even sure how many months earlier that I could have already move on with my case (Priority dates & all that), but had I not called up the lawyer he, too, would still be waiting until either me or the immigration made a move to catch his attention

All your help/responses a appreciated :help:

Yes the notice that you mentioned is NOA1 so your case is on file at CSC but it can take some time for the to approve it.

One question, How old are you? Your age can help determine how long it takes CSC to process, If under 21 then you are a dependent and process is faster than if you are older than 21.

See CSC page for the dates that they are working on to get an idea when they may approve your case.

This is quite perplexing. Here is why - your parents had submit I-130 back in 2001. They also had to get NOA for it. After they became USC, they had to inform NSC of their new immigration status and to change your priority category and date.

Of course, I am not an attorney practising immigration law, possibly I am missing something.

Priority dates for immigrant visas are listed in Department of State Visa Bulletin: http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin...letin_1360.html
