Man found neighbour dying in hedge 'after she was stabbed 23 times by rich husband for having Facebook affair'

A man has described the chilling moment he found his neighbour bleeding to death in a hedge after she was allegedly stabbed 23 times by her wealthy American husband.

Stephen Kennedy told a murder trial today how he was woken by the frantic screams of Lucy Landry, who was yelling his name and pleading for help.

Mr Kennedy found her lifeless bloodied body in his garden in a hedge after he dashed outside to investigate.

Mrs Landry, 38, had a carving knife lodged in her side and was unconscious when he discovered her blood soaked body, Wolverhampton Crown Court heard.

Retired Harold Landry, 64, denies murdering the wife he met on the internet but claims he is instead guilty of manslaughter.

Giving evidence, Mr Kennedy told the jury: 'I heard a scream for my name and that was said a number of times asking for help. I identified it as Lucy Landry.

'I ran across my drive and at that point noticed a figure in the hedge.

'When I first looked I then made out it was a body at that point. I realised it had fallen into the hedge and therefore could not establish at that point who it actually was.'

The next-door neighbour then pulled the body out of the hedge to check for a pulse and any other signs of life.

'I placed the body on its left hand side and at that point I could see it was Lucy Landry,' Mr Kennedy told the court.

'I could feel wet which turned out to be blood.

'The lower part of her torso was exposed. I could see blood coming across the stomach. There was also blood in her hair as well which was matted and a knife in her left hand side.'

He told jurors he heard a muffled male voice moments before the screams stopped and it fell silent.

Mr Kennedy, who had been at the Landry's house in Besford Court Estate, near Pershore, Worcestershire, one hour earlier that night, then phoned the police.

The dramatic 999 call made at 11.49pm was played to the court and heard Mr Kennedy say 'my neighbour has just stabbed his wife.'

The recording continued: 'She is lying on the drive. I am not sure if she is dead. She is not moving. She has got a knife in her side. It is sticking out.'

Later on in the call Mr Kennedy then says 'she is dead. I know she is dead.' The court previously heard how the couple had been arguing on February 1 last year about money amid their impending divorce.

Landry, who is from Louisiana and suffers from prostate cancer, sobbed in the dock as the jury was told about their previously happy marriage.

Mrs Landry, who was originally from South Wales, was living in Coventry with her husband when she met the retired engineer after he travelled to the UK following their internet romance.

Neither of them worked and they spent most of their time together until the marriage turned sour in 2009, the court was told.

But Mrs Landry had an affair after contacting a school friend on Facebook.

The jury were told Landry resented her new boyfriend benefiting from his wealth and had spoke about giving away his money and coin and stamp collection.

The trial continues.

So I'm going to take a wild stab in the dark here, and say the moral of this story is... cheaters never prosper ?

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

You appear to have a rather unique set of morals.

It's called facetious. What happened to this woman is truly tragic.

wait a mo - she's from Wales?

and husband is American ?

both live in Pershore, in UK ?

and she left her prior husband for this guy?

and she had new affair with someone else?

Sorry, I not think posting this is useful - the 'woman' already has pattern of 'trading up' .

*** moving to OT forum, is nothing political or religious in the topic ***

Why did you put the single quotes around woman? Is there some doubt in your mind as to her gender?

Regardless of how many affairs she had, she didn't deserve to be stabbed to death.

An organizer says she did, so she did. Who are you to argue, mere mortal?

except for the fact darnell didn't say that.

If justification of the crime isn't implied then why is mention made of the 'woman' 'trading up'?

my guess would be an observation by darnell, nothing more.
