Missouri too stupid to get my address right

Hi guys,

Fortunately I got my RFE as a copy through Infopass, but here is my problem:

1) When I first saw that they could not deliver the RFE I called their hotline and they said Oh we corrected the addresss.

2) The guy in the local office sent Missouri a fax stating my correct address (apartment number is missing).

3) Still the letter was returned again yesterday. My mailbox even carries the name now so it should not be bad to have a missing apartment number (which is their fault!!!!).

They are simply extremely reluctant to do their job. They so pi** me off, if my husband just wanted to live in Germany.

Did it happen to anyone else??? Or can I assume that this was another RFE? For something else than the affidavit of support????

Talk to your postman and tell him to deliver next time. Can't hurt.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Yes definately tell your postman and also tell your local post office. Also put your name on the inside of your postbox. After that you should be fine.

Thanks, I defenitely will do that. But here is the thing: the name was on the mailbox until yesterday (oops so no exception for me, it is not allowed in our community). So when the letter arrived the mail guy could have found the right mailbox....

What do you think - a note to the local post office or should I put talk to them personally?

Thanks, Anna.

Talk to him personally. Most postmen dont mind. Its what they get paid for afterall. Also inform the local post office and make sure they have your name added to that mailbox on their system.

Hey Anna: Your problem might be too long an address (I worked at a govt. agency that had a very old system (I think its close to 40 years old and so the address field is very limited.) Many times there is no money to upgrade the system (the agency is still using the same system that I worked with for 20 years and I am now retired!)

What you need to do is abbreviate and/or use two lines of address - like this

apt. 347B

12345 Lincolsn st. (put your apt # on the first line, followed by the street address on the second line)

Good Luck

Sounds good. Anyway, we attached a letter to our RFE that they should put the apartment number in the second row. Seems like Chicago can do it, but Missouri has old computers which cut off half of our address....

And that is why they claim they have our address in their system: yes, it is there, but the printers cannot print out all of it.... Oh dear ;)

But since they are unable to change an address nor correct the typo I will talk to the post office - the name is still on the inside of our mailbox, so the mailman doesnt necessarily need to know the appartment number since there is a name....

Thanks, Anna
