Visa Pickup on Weekends

Hey guys I have a question. My Grand Father is in the hospital dying, he had a stroke. my entire family is already in Florida at the Hosp and he'll prob still be there while I am up taking care of my wifes interview with her. I plan to get a letter from the hosp about my Grand Father being sick and in bad shape, and requesting our Visa be picked up instead of delivered. My question is since our interview is the 4th which is a Friday, does the embassy do pick ups on the weekends? Are they even open? Or would we most likely have to stay the whole weekend and pick it up Monday? If they even allow it.

Get the letter from the DR explaining the situation and they can issue it the same day! No gaurantee, but hopefully the DR letter helps. if it were I, I would email the consulate (may take several emails, Ur case # in subject line) and give mtl a heads up!

As well someone else posted a way of contacting the MRT supervisor directly, so you could poke around for that post. maybe even get the interview moved up?? Doesnt hurt to try

I think your best bet is to ask for the same day. I'm sure they would make an exception if you have a letter for them.

DHL is generally not open on the weekends and they do not deliver the packets. You have to pick them up. They have horrible notice service for you if your package is there or not and its posted quite frequently on VJ about how long people have had to wait and not knowing where the heck the package is at or anything.

Thanks for all responses But I was speaking solely about the consulate which was answered for me. I wonder If I email the consulate if I could get my interview date bumped up for this very reason.

Can someone supply me with this information please?

Use the email flames posted, attach a copy of the letter from the doctor about the family emergency and try to request an expedite. Its not a guaranty that they will give you it but obviously try to get one since its pretty emergent situation..

Also like flames said.. the USC is not required to attend the interview, most people in Canada do them without the USC.
