Don't give up. Regardless of how many times people have tried and perhaps failed, maybe today is our day. Never give up! Find someone who has been reporting specifically on the immigration topic and start with them. It never hurts to try....

Dr. Phil is currently supporting on of the online dating services. He is also a big advocate of stuff like this and he is based in California.

Is there anyone that met their fiance(e) using his service? If so, that could be an "in".

It would also be much easier to filter/block out if they feel they are dis-interested in reading about this subject. :(

I think what "Kaydee457" is trying to say is.... by the time you get started on your action you will get approved. I've seen many people suggest some type of action before, but as soon as there approved, you don't here about the action anymore. Why continue with the action when you finally have your approval??. I think if your going to start something it should be followed through to the end. That's why it's hard to collectively pull together and change something. Everyone is pissed in the beginning and demands action, as soon as there approved they move on and forget they were pissed, no follow through.

I commend the petitioners who get there visa and still come back to help others. Think about how many people use this site to get there visa and never come back after that. It's because there in it for themselves and demand action for themselves, to help there own cause. I truly commend those of you who come back to help after you have your visa in hand, that is a truly unselfish act!!

If you want my advice. Whenever I need a few good e-mails for myself... I create false hotmail accounts and send e-mails myself using different names.

I hope that the process does change to be more fair, somehow.

My idea is this: Chose one news person who will be willing to bring some attention to our issues. Example: At CNN some leading news people are Lou Dobbs, Paula Zahn, Larry King, Anderson Cooper. At Fox News some leading news people are Bill Oreilly, Hannity & Colmes, Shepard Smith, Greta Van Susteren. If at some point in the future one of these news anchors began to get hundreds of emails from people all over the USA explaining their horrible expirences with USCIS then they might be willing to bring some media attention to the problems we all face.

Count me in!

Also, if you have a House or Senate race that is expected to be close, I suspect that the candidates might be more willing to listen.

I agree that interest might fade with time. But I think maybe not. I have a colleague who went through this hellish process over 5 years ago. He is STILL incensed, saying this is the worst government process he's been through in his life.

Exactly right, Sir Lancelot, though Alanlvsjudy has an excellent point in that we need to make our email titles to the point so that the topic will be easily seen and grasped. People in the news media are even quicker to scan things than most because they're getting bombarded with so much stuff all the time. Short titles that are very to the point would be best. Everyone do their own. Don't use abbreviations that may not be immediately understood or recognized by people not in our position--including USCIS, VSC, or CSC. Good buzz words and phrases to use might be "legal immigration," "policy" or "policies," "penalized." "investigation needed," just to list a few. I'm sure the rest of you have other ideas that will work extremely well. In this, as in everything, we need to stay respectful. We can voice strong thoughts and opinions without crossing the line into disrespect or obnoxiousness. NO VULGARITY!! Staying on point and respectful is the only way we keep our credibility. One more thing. Be clear and concise. They won't have the time to wade through long, windy stuff like we often permit ourselves to write here. The media is all about sound bites.

January 2004: Met Laurent at the Bibliothèque nationale in Paris

February 2004: We became an actual couple

January 29th, 2006: I left France to return to the United States--AWFUL to say goodbye!

June 2006: Finally convinced Laurent that a K-1 visa would be more time-effective than trying to get an H-1

August 1st, 2006: The K-1 petition is finally in the mail and on its way to Nebraska...WooHoooo!! And yes, I remembered to attach the check! :-)

August 3rd, 2006: USPS online tracking shows that my petition (sent certified) was received at the NSC at 5:05am

August 14th, 2006: NOA1 received USPS!! (I-129F recv'd at CSC: 8/4; NOA date: 8/10; last touched: 8/11)

October 2nd, 2006: I MISTAKENLY thought we had an approval...False alarm...Back to waiting...

October 3rd, 2006: TOUCHED!!

October 4th, 2006: REALLY AND TRULY APPROVED!!! Email notification lists 10/3 as the NOA2 date.

Later that same day: TOUCHED...AGAIN! Hope that means I'm in a cozy box and moving to NVC this week...

October 10th, 2006: Received official NOA2 via snail mail.

October 19th, 2006: Case received at NVC!! AWESOME!!

October 20th, 2006: Case forwarded to Paris!! DHL says two shipments were headed that way. Must be in there somewhere...

October 27th, 2006: Received official receipt letter from NVC via USPS.

and guys...for the ne'er sayers - it can work - back in I believe 2004 when we were filing through CSC, TSC was really bad, so a group of people contacted media outlets and also protested onsite at TSC and it not only brought attention to the issue, but also brought speedier approvals for at least some of those who protested at that location. I know there were links to it on the old VJ site, but I'm not sure where those links are now.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained - go for it!

ah, yes...just a little over a year ago, we were so jealous of the folks in california...second only, of course to those going through vermont. at that time, the place you did not want to be stuck was the nebraska service center...otherwise known as the seventh level of hell.

i do sympathize, and i remember the heartbreak of being separated from my then fiance only seemed to make the time drag even slower.

i would advise you guys to broaden your perspective a bit, though...take a look at what is happening on the 'other' side of the K-1...there are some people who are stuck in FBI name-check while their AOS is pending...some as long as 2 or 3 years! in order to be most effective, it may be worth addressing the legal immigration issue as a whole, and not just fiance visas.

then again, that's just my 2 cents.

OK. I agree that a group effort is needed to bring the topic to the surface. However, contacting a news media person just to jump start USCIS is not the answer in my opinion.

I suggest the same mailings but everyone send it to your respective Congressman/Senator and CC: the SAME news media person. That way the News media person knows that this issue is being asked of our respective representatives with questions and obvious problems that have gone unanswered!!!! This is an election year for many, lets include the politics where this started too :angry::thumbs::angry::thumbs:

Wow...and before you say we're only a small portion, we're big enough for a decent sample size and I think this statistic says it all. That discrepancy is WAY too large for a government office that takes the same dollars as another for the same service.
