Marriage plans in Las Vegas?

So we are finally decided on the date and its happening next week... in Vegas :)

We live in New York City. Do we have to register the marriage in the City Hall Clerk's Office in New York City, or not? I was a bit confused about that, for I-130 Nevada state certified copy of the marriage License will be enough right?

Basically what i am trying to say... we're just marrying in Vegas and we'll be sending the AOS package in New York City, is there any problem with that?

thanks

As long as its registered and its legal its fine. Makes no difference what state you marry in, but the license needs to be acquired in the state you are going to marry. So you cant get one from NY and then use it to marry in Vegas.

Here is how to do Vegas

1) fly to Vegas

2) visit Clark County clerks office

3) Apply for marriage license

4) Get married.

5) Hand carry executed license back to clerk's office. (Cretical if you want to get marriage cert same day)

6) Walk out with marriage cert.

This a NV wedding, nothing to do in NY

(L)We were married in Las Vegas in 2007 and we haven't had any problems... be SURE that you get a CERTFIED Copy of the Marriage Certificate (this has the raised seal and the stamp) They "automatically" give you one after the ceremony that has a nice shiny seal but this is NOT the one that is required when filing for a Visa. Get the certified copy while you are there in Vegas  . We ordered 2 just to be safe for future needs!

Good Luck and Congrats!

Yes, you need to submit the certified marriage certificate. DO NOT make copy of the certified marriage certificate and then submit. The AOS states to submit the certified marriage certificate.

I have requested 3 certified marriage certificate just in case. One certified marriage certificate was already filed during AOS application.

No, it does NOT say this. Photocopy of certified marriage cert is fine.

so i don't get it so many different answers here, does anybody know a link where it says it need to be certified marriage license or not? (the one that we have right now is given to us after the ceremony, Reverend hand written it)

the one that we received after the ceremony is this enough to file with AOS or not?

i don't know why they are so slow, 10 days before it is entered into their database and 2 weeks to wait in the mail that's like 25 days almost a month for marriage certificate, god am I really gonna send our AOS package next month?

Well you were told initially to make sure that you got the certified certificate. The one you have is the novelty one so to speak. Yup you will have to wait for the certified one..

Alternatively you can file the AOS and either get a rejection of your packet for being incomplete or a RFE for the certified marriage certificate.

NOPE,

I know what he is talking about (VITAL CHECK) and that would work too BUT it is much easier to just get one there in Vegas (are you still there?)

Look on the back of the the Certificate with the Shiny Seal.... you will see something that reads where you can get a copy of The Certificate

if you are still in Vegas, go to the Clark County Recorder there and you can get the one that is required by Immigration. It costs $10.00 and has the "WET Seal" as well as the Stamp that states "Certified Copy" This Document is a True and Correct Copy of the Recorded Document" and will be signed and dated by the Recorder with the "Imprinted"Seal.

I would suggest getting 2 as it is much easier getting them there than having to order them! We didn't do this and thought that the Copy with the Shiny Seal would suffice BUT it will not. We were in the states at the time that we found this out and therefore I called the recorders office and they told me what to do and how much to send and we got them in like a week. IMO, it is best to get it while you are there if possible!

Congrats on your Marriage and GOOD LUCK!

Well No problem and no worry to fret about this!

When you do see your marriage registered in the data base (I really doubt if it will take even that long... seriously) then go to this website and order it... here is the Link http://www.clarkcountynv.gov/Depts/recorder/Pages/OrderingMarriageCertificate.aspx I hope that this helps a little and the mailing time... one week and like I said earlier, you can call the customer service (I DID) and they will tell you if and when it was sent! As far as having a certified copy and where it states that this is necessary here it is.... JUST A COPY OF THE CERTIFIED MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE, and I believe that once you have your interview, then they will ask for the original of course. So... here is the info: :)

Assembling the I-130 Package: Checklist

Forms and Documents (follow these assembly instructions. All supporting documents must be in English or be translated as noted here.): 1. Payment as required by USCIS. Use a money order so you can track the payment. If a personal check is allowed, use that instead. 2. Cover Letter. Should include a description of what your are petitioning for (I-130), a table of contents (list everything in the packet). If you need additional room to explain your case, attach a separate sheet (list the attachment on the cover sheet). Make sure to sign and date the cover sheet. 3. Form I-130: Petition for Alien Relative 4. Copy of the Full Birth certificate (front and back) for the US Citizen or a copy of ALL pages of the US Citizen's passport. This is used to establish citizenship. 5. A copy of petitioner's proof of naturalization. (If applicable) 6. A copy of petitioner's proof of permanent residency. (If applicable) 7. A copy of the intending immigrant's birth certificate and/or passport along with English translation. (If in any language other than English) 8. A certified COPY of your marriage certificate (again, translated if not in English) 9. A certified official copy of the petitioner's and/or intending immigrant's divorce documents. (If one or both of you have been divorced before) 10. A copy of a prior spouse's death certificate. (If filing for a spouse, and one or both have you were married before, and the prior spouse died) 11. G-325A filled out by the US Citizen, signed and dated. 12. One passport-type photo (see specification) of the US Citizen. Write the full name on the back. Place in a plastic bag and label the bag "Photo of <Insert Name>". Attach the bag to a sheet of paper and place behind the corresponding G-325a. 13. G-325A filled out by the foreign spouse signed and dated. 14. One passport-type photo (see specification) of the foreign spouse. Write the full name of the beneficiary on the back. Place in a plastic bag and label the bag "Photo of (insert name) ". Attach the bag to a sheet of paper and place behind the corresponding G-325a. 15. Evidence of a bonafide marriage (see note below for what to include)
