The only way to do so is to phone the Embassy and ask.

The hand holding that the USCIS gives us with their website is non-existent after NVC and the foreign Embassy get ahold of our Petitions. It frustrated me as well. All I did was reply back with the Packet 3 forms before ever receiving Packet 3 and watch the Embassy interview dates for our case number to appear.

The day the website started showing the interview dates for September, which is what we had been waiting for, Packet 3 and Packet 4 showed up at the same time. We waited about 2 weeks as well.

Yes, contact the embassy/consulate and ask whether the petition's there already and how long one should expect to wait for packet 3.

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

For the Colombian Embassy that won't get you far. They have an information number that you have to pay $14US for one call or 15mins or something like that. Then they tell you that that number can only issue an appointment date for beneficiaries who have already been given an appointment previously. The people answering this phone number can not pull up status information.

If you call the general Embassy number they do not answer Visa status questions as you are goign to reach some receptionist type person at a front desk and they can only transfer you to who knows where.

And when this person asked me if I had received packet 3 or 4 and I said no not yet. She responded with oh well you need to wait atleast 6 months first. Ok I will chalk that answer up to a language barrier, because that is the length of time all of us VJers know it usually takes from I-129F receive date to Visa approved date.

Hope your emabssy works differently or someone else can share a better experience with the Colombian Embassy and enlighten me.

Radha -- Calling them won't help. because they never do answer their fones. Go to Embassy info... and choose Mumbai... and there's an email address where u can email them and ask.. but make sure, you write your NVC case number as a subject.

Good luck with that

Hi,

My husband's and i are trying to get his IR1 visa, he has his interview on 2nd jan, in pakistan...anyway, i talked to the NVC, when they were finished processing our AOF and visa application docs, and they mailed it to pakistan, well the NVC told me that it takes two to four weeks for it to be mailed to pakistan ( or anywhere)...in our case it took two weeks, but you said yours was like over two weeks, so don't worry so far, because that is normal for them to take two to four weeks, also , there is no real way to track it, like you could with the USCIS, like everyone else said, you have to call them...

I called the Pakistan embassy, it was very easy to get my answers from them, they had all of my hsubands info in their computers and just answered any questions i had, all i did was buy a five dollar phone card online and gave them a call, but make sure you let them know that you are the american citizen calling from america ( because after i told them that they finally put me on the phone with a representative) sometimes you have to be pushy but it shouldn't be too hard for you to find out exactly what you need to know from the embassy there.

Also, emailing never worked so well for us, they seem to just give a set answer for every question, it was real annoying, we would ask complicated questions and they would give short answers that didn't even answer our questions half the time.

Tracking at the Argentine Embassy = Non existant.

1- Embassy's Phone number = useless (it's only for tourists and such)

2- Embassy's E-mail = nearly useless (e-mail them and pray for an answer)

3- Embassy's website = useless (hasn't been updated in 3 years)

4- Embassy's Fax = useless (see #1)

sigh

I wonder if there's an Embassy complaint department.

Radha, try e-mailing Mumbai embassy at MUMBAI, I V [MUMBAIIV@state.gov].

They're very very prompt in responding back. I've had about 15 e-mails into them and each one was replied to within 24 hours.
