Al, I have been following your posts for some time and usually completely agree with you and admire your "git 'r done" spirit. Our time lines are also pretty close. I have also sent letters to two Senators and my Congressman this past week. Just curious as to what you have heard back from yours, if any of them?

Happy journey's, however long and unnecessary they are...

Hal Rogers, Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, ignored me. That was no surprise since I am not his constituent. I just wanted somebody from his office to read the letter.

What did surprise me is that my own Senator, Chuck Schumer, ignored me as well.

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand had her aide call me. She was pleasant and professional and told me that I was not at the five month mark yet (I knew that), but if I reached the mark to call her back and she would help me.

Congressman Steve Israel's aide not only made a similar call; she sent an e-mail to the VSC to inquire about the status of my case and sent me a CC of the e-mail she got back. She also said that she would help me at the 5 month mark.

None of them touched the Haitian issue since it is such a political hot potato. But they all read it, which was what I was looking for.

Call the Senator & see what happens when you ask to speak directly to him or her. Demand that they put the Senator on the phone. Tell them about the taxes. Demand an explanation in writting. You
