I have a question...

is it ok for the beneficiary to call NVC to see if they recieved it?

I don't see why not? All they ask for is a case number from USCIS, then they advise status.

I was not asked for my name or anything.

Yes. You'll be asked to give your NOA1 number, your birth date and name, and the petitioner's phone number. Talk to a live operator.

However, NVC is definitely loaded up with approved petitions. That has to slow things down somewhat.

I guess so. They have to run security checks after all.

As much as we want to believe that NVC is all good, they are getting bogged down big time.

Who knows, they must have huge stacks of petitions by now.

I have only waited 11 days and don't expect much for a while.

I am curious who is waiting for "NVC receipt" and how long ago USCIS approved your petition?

The information may offer some insight into further waiting.

I was approved on July 31, 2006 And my case was at NVC by 08-04-06 and received by the embassy by 08-11-06. So i guess it all depends on luck when you deal with these people. Goodluck.

I was reapproved on August 16, NVC had it on August 21. No letter yet, but when I called in, I was told it was mailed out on August 25, of course the embassy has yet to receive it. So I guess that means it's still sitting in the NVC mail room or on some jerks desk... I thought once it would get to NVC it would be faster and end this torture, but I guess that was too good to be true.

I just want my petition out of the USA! Maybe my petition is waiting to be issued a visa to be allowed to enter Poland, haha well at least that is what I am choosing to believe!

Because I am a recalled case my experience at NVC may be a little different, but it was relatively efficient. For one thing, they just used the previously assigned case number. I have no idea the exact date when CSC reapproved my K-1 petition, but my congressman's aid told me that they had, and had sent it on to NVC, who told him they received it on August 15. I called NVC on Aug 22 and was told my case had been approved and sent to the embassy on Paris on that same day. I also received an email response from NVC that my case had been approved and sent back to the embassy and to contact the embassy if I had any further questions. That, by the way, is the only thing I have in writing to date verifying that my petition was reapproved. Not a thing from CSC - no online update, no email, no I-797, NADA.

Although NVC said they sent the case to embassy on Aug 22, in fact, no shipments to Paris as tracked on DHL showed up until Aug 25, with arrival on Aug 28. So there does appear to possibly be a delay between when NVC says your case has been sent to the embassy and when it actually gets picked up at their door by DHL, the global shipping service. Bonne chance!

Kind of the same thing happened to me. They used the same number case and told me they had sent it on the 7th to the consulate, but there were no packages sent by DHL to Brazil until the 10th. The good thing is, it got there anyway. Also, the same thing happened to rlt. The date informed by NVC did not correspond to the date of the actual mailing to the consulate.

YES! NVC has our case and we have a case number!!!!!!

Good luck to the rest of you!!

FANTASTIQUE< WILLIAM!!!! Hopefully not too much longer for you at NVC - I think the 2-4 weeks thing is just the canned statement. They seem to be ever so much more efficient than the USCIS service centers. They were even kind enough to send me a letter, that I received today, so at least I now have it in writing that USCIS reaffirmed my freaking petition. May they continue to operate in a timely manner to get all these cases out the door!!!
