Thanks for the info and encouragement from everyone. I just got off the phone just minutes ago with the NVC (603-334-0700) and representative (by the name of Penny) told me (based on the verbiage on my NOA2) that my petition went straight to the Consulate. I asked her again to confirm, "..so, it's possible for it to go straight to the consulate and not stop at the NVC for an I129F?" and she said "YES". So there you have it folks, she said it possible and that is was the case with my petition.

"The above petition has been approved, and forwared to the listed consulate."

On 08FEB2011, I received the email notification of the approved NOA2.

On 14FEB2011, I received the hard copy with the quoated statement above.

Who should I call to get my case number and status update? (NVC or consualte - London)

Usually the K1 visa petitions only stay at NVC for 1 to 3 weeks. They are, in most cases, quickly processed and then forwarded to the appropriate consulate. You may call the Department of State visa specialist at 202-663-1225 to get updates on your case at this point. You could call them to see if the packet has been mailed to your fiance(e) and if an interview has been scheduled.

Best wishes! (F)

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

Called Visa Specialist at the Department of State every day for a case update. Informed of interview date on February, 16 2011. Informed that packet was mailed to fiance on February, 15 2011.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.

March 9, 2011 at 6 AM - Interview, approved!

March 18, 2011 - POE together. JFK and O'Hare airports. Legal wedding: May 16, 2011.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.

The Consulate in Rio is where you go for your interview in Brazil. It is to my knowledge and research that Rio is the only place in Brazil to get an immigrant visa. Even though the K1 is called a non-immigrant, they treat it as one and the interviews are there.

However, I am confused as to why you are asking about London, yet you have your SO as a Brazilian???

Either way, Congratulations on a super fast NOA2 as the rest of us are 3-4 months behind you.

My fiancee is Brazilian, but she lives in London - sorry, this has been confusing a lot of people...but thanks anyways. The only reason why I got my NOA2 "super fast" is because I am in the military and I'm deploying in July. My fiancee will only get here in time for us to get married; for me to give her the keys to the house and then I will be gone for 6 months to a year. Good luck on your journey.

You have received your NOA2, and your packet will then be transferred to the NVC. In turn as stated within this same post, the NVC should process it within 1 to 3 weeks. If all goes well, you should receive a letter from the NVC that has (2) numbers within the letter. The NVC letter just states that they have received your packet, and most likely will not conclude when it will be transferred. One of the numbers is a specific case number the embassy uses for your case interview. Once you receive the NVC letter you can then call the embassy, using the case number to see whether your K-1 packet has been transferred. Then depending on the embassy policy, you may or may not be able to schedule your interview. Remember, to attempt to get your medical done as soon as possible! You cannot interview until you have passed the medical. Each embassy differs from whether they will allow you to schedule your own interview or they may elect to send you another packet to process. At the Philippines embassy, once our packet was received we could call and schedule the medical and the interview. Again, check with other VJ members that have participated at your embassy. If you have applied for a K-1 visa then you will have to go on-line and process (3) forms before your interview, the DS-156, DS-156K, and DS-157. You can research example forms on VJ, but remember they may vary a bit based on prior revisions. Hope this helps.

10 days from which date should I wait, the 8th or the 14th?

Glad you were able to get the info you were seeking for your inquiry. Congratulations on your fast approval. Thanks for your service to our country as well. Best wishes! =D

He is confused about the process, there is no need to be snappy.

Like I said, all NOA2s will say it will be forwarded to the consulate but it will still pass the NVC stage.

The OP did not know that. Heck, I didn't know it back then as well.

I hope everything is clear now JoshGriga

Thanks so much for steering this thread in the right direction and standing up for the OP! We need more of that kindness around here =P

I was just confused cause I've been reading that the packet goes to the NVC first and then the consulate but my letter from USCIS said that they forwarded it to the consulate. I was thinking that this happened because I had an approved expedite request with USCIS.
