Hi Guys.

How was everybody Valetine?

I have something to ask if any of you could input some good advises.

My wife back in Viet Nam is bored and she live in Ben Tre. I want to find her something to do, so I was thinking of having a small business for her to run. It is small like an online selling stuffs just to kill the time and have her busy.

So do you guys have any good advise?

Like what is popular in Vietnam.

Does anybody have any connection?

Would she be selling to Vietnamese or to the US?

What does she know how to do? What does she have a good source for?

Where is Ben Tre?

Ben Tre is a province in the south.

To OP: She's going to immigrate to US soon. So not to be too nosy, why doesn't she go to English class when she feels bored? That's a good way to get rid of boredom and also to improve her English. Running business costs time and money so I don't see selling stuff is a good way to kill time.

Anyways, to answer your question, here are a couple of things that I know since I'm a vietnamese myself, who lived there for 22 years, Vietnamese people are into foods and drinks, cell phones, clothes, cosmetics and perfumes. If she's good at computers, she can set up some accounts on some online selling website like ebay.com.vn, 123muaban.com, raovat.com.

Hope it helps.

Let me know how the business goes.

I wanted to open a shop in Vietnam for my wife family too.

I was going to import/export from the US but have no idea of the legality over in Vietnam.

I do know you have to pay taxes on all imports into Vietnam that they deem is business related.

Also, there is no real law to follow so the business can go up in smoke quite easily if they choose to intervene...this is what I was told by the local people over there.

Her English is very good. Going to school for English in Ben Tre is a wasted. She is done with college. I m thinking of doing an online selling like you suggested xxtinaxx.

Perfumes and cosmetics sound great..

I will talk to her about it more...

thanks guys.

Business in VN is not very esay. Selling online is very good thing. Iphone and Ipad from US seding over to her will be cost shipping cost... and ETC. The best way to sell in VN is online. Go online google some stuffs from China. Ring, toy... and ETC to sell in VN. Less cost and risk. Open quan AN .... and other shop in VN cost a fortune.

I suggest is for your wife to learn how to cook.. If she already knows how to cooks... watching american TV, or learn more cultural about American life is more valuable...

OR, learn how to take care the baby.. hihihi.. j/k

and good luck on whatever you both will decide...

She can also sell on ebay to the US, there are many things that are cheap here that in the US are expensive. Westerners eat up Asian things, and if it looks Japaneese or Chineese they love it. All that is really needed is for her to set up a pay pal account or for you to do it and use that for her ebay account. Lacquers are cheap here, between 20 and 50$ and sell for $300 to $600, also the bags, and little things sell good as well

She should open a computer lab to teach English. Get a couple of desktops, load them with Rosetta Stone. Charge a monthly fee. Since she is good in English, she can suppliment Rosetta Stone when the students don't understand.

Besides the initial hardware and software cost, there's basically no overhead.

I totally agreed with this.:thumbs: This will help other Vnese learning English from VN, and also help her kill the time.

And because she won't be there long to recoup the cost of Rosetta Stone, she could use another cheaper program...

Or, why not set up a site to deliver flowers & gifts in that area... to American purchasers... we all know how expensive it is... so make it cheaper but still enough to make a profit. she probably won't sell a lot... unless he ups it to cover other areas, but hey, it could be fun.
