I mailed in my old passport with my maiden name back in early January. My MTL interview is on Feb 24th, they still haven't sent me my passport with my new married name. I called today and they said it's still not done and I begged them to transfer it then to my local office where they will have to print it off here, and I'll have to pay more money to get it. I don't know if they'll have it in time..I'm going to explode if they don't.

You absolutely need your passport for the interview? I have a Nexxus card, but i'm assuming they need the passport am I correct?

God forbid they don't get it to me in time, anyone know what then will happen :help: ???

You need your passport so they Can issue your visa into it. If you do not have your passport by the interview date then you will most likely have to send your passport into Montreal when receive it. This may take some time as Montreal is backlogged and does not tend to open there mail quickly.

Is their any place I can call the consulate to make sure? I don't want to have to drive 10hrs to MTL only to be sent back home..I sure hope I get my passport back soon..ughhhhhhhh

I don't have a good answer for you but on the plus side you still have 9 days right? If you had a local office, just curious why you didn't physically go in to update your passport?

I thought I would have time express mailing it in. I work full time and it's hard to leave..but..I truly wish I had taken that time off now..

You absolutely need to leave ( or send in after) your passport, assuming you are approved at your interview. That's were they attach the foil of your temp. visa. And I agree, sending something back to Montreal can add weeks onto processing time. In August, I had to submit extra paperwork, I sent it via courier overnight, and even tho I had an approved expedite with Montreal, it took until Oct for them to open my mail. Sorry to be a bad news bearer, hopefully you will get your passport back before. Good luck!
