On the online document DS-156, Question 31:

So what does it mean when it asks, "where?" Where was she refused? or where did she intend on going? city, state? or name of university?? And do i need the exact day? Cuase she doesn't remember and it's not in her passport..

Here's the question:

31. Have You Ever Been Refused a U.S. Visa? Yes No

WHEN?

(Most Recent) day month year

WHERE?

WHAT TYPE OF VISA?

You can just put for example she was refused a visa at the US Embassy in the UK, Or was refused entry at the JFK international airport, or was refused entry at the Canadian Border in New York.

They date if you are really unsure what the exact date was you can put the month and Year January 2009. I think that will suffice they should have record of it anyways.

Thanks for your help.

One thing you will know when you visit the embassy for interview is they have records of all visits, visas applications etc, etc, etc.. If you have been denied or refused any kind of visa, you will be required to say the truth. If you do not have clear the dates in question, then leave or estimate the time.

The embassy can honor you a visa [which ever kind] but the real task is when you enter the US port. Here [uSA] the Port Officer has the right to accept or refused your entry even if you have a visa - [possibly answering the last comment from Dimples28]

Alright thank you. I will just not enter the day then because she's not sure about it since they never really put a date when they denied it.. Thanks again.

Anytime.. i know exactly what you are passing since i expirience first hand with my [then] fiancee the same cronological journey. As a side note, don't stress the fact visa was dinied in the past.. my wife [then fiancee] was dinied twice, one several years prior application and the second time during our courtship.. She had her interview in Rio and was a pretty smoth process as long as you have submitted all the required documents at the time of interview..

My fiance is from rio too :) I can't wait to be with her. I hope it all goes well and she gets approved and finally be with her.

Best Wishes to both.. and after all this sleepless nights, it will feel like a dream the moment you and her are walking out of the airport..
