Is current annual income (line 23) considered the same as my adjusted gross income (line 25) or is it my annual income (wages, tips, other comp.) as noted on my W-2?

:)

The instructions to the I-864 says :Line 23: Enter your current individual earned or retirement annual income that you are using to meet the requirements of this form and indicate the total on this line.

So, it depends on what type of income you have. If all you have is your W-2 income, than yes, it's your wages, tips, other compensation. It's not the adjusted gross income line from your tax return because that might be reduced by some deductions, like student loan interest, tuition, etc - so don't use that.

From how I read the instructions, they want different information on line 25 - there they specifically state they want adjusted gross income.(line 37 of the 1040). It's possible, that line 7, line 22 (total income) and line 37, are exactly the same number, it just depends on your tax situation. Good luck!

On LINE 23 what do we finaly put? Gross IncomM or Net Income? This is NOT WELL DEFINED AT ALL in the instructions. My Gross on my W2 is WAY TOO DIFFERENT from my net on my Tax Return, so what do I go by?

Also on LINE 25 it asks your Total Income and then in parenthesis your Gross Adjusted Income, so which one of the two they want in reality; the first or the second one? On my Tax Return my line 22 has a different amount from line 37 and I am not sure what to put, with the confusion the instructions cause.

Can anyone help, guys and gals, plz? Thanks

I repeat: The instructions to the I-864 says :Line 23: Enter your current individual earned or retirement annual income that you are using to meet the requirements of this form and indicate the total on this line. I do not see a reference in the instructions telling you to put a specific line item from your tax return. And remember, for this line it says CURRENT - maybe someone else can clarify but wouldn't this mean that if you started making less income or more income, you would put your CURRENT income and then back it up with paystubs and a letter from your employer???

On line 25, it only says to put your adjusted gross income if you used a 1040EZ. There is no line 37 on a 1040EZ so this does not apply to you, right? If you filed a 1040 than don't use Adjusted Gross Income - use Total Income (just like the instructions say), which happens to be Total Income Line 22 on the 1040 - (for 2010 anyway, maybe it changes from year to year? but anyway use TOTAL income not Adjusted).
