Dude, you have some serious, pent-up anger over your Fundamental Christian upbringing. Some therapy sessions with a good counselor would do you more good than continually projecting it here.

I'm still waiting on you to tell me about my Fundamental Christian upbringing...

India, gun buyback and steamroll.

I believe in the President of the United States, the Queen of England, and many other people who have never called me...

Assuming God does exist, he would obviously be a lot more important than you and wouldn't owe you a phone call or a voice mail.

Are you that arrogant & prideful to think that you are somehow better than God?

Here are a couple of words that I think you should review:

JOKE

HUMOR

SARCASM

RELAX

Depends on your point of view! My own point of view (to which I am entitled what with this being a free country and all) is that God exists only in the minds of the religious. So for me it would take something rather dramatic to get me to change my mind. And if this God was as omnipotent (all-powerful), omniscient (all wise), and omnipresent (present everywhere) as I was instructed repeatedly as a child, he could very easily do somethintg to make me know he is real. That he does not I accept as proof of his non-existence. Just my opinion. If it helps you deal with the uncertainties and injustices of life on this planet you are free to believe in anything you like!

so I remember reading something about a study done in the 70s (it could have been the 60s, it's been awhile) and it said they had a larger number of people diagnosed with psychological disorders who were not religious, than people who were religious. I'm going to see if I can find that or something more recent that contradicts it. I'm just curious.

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

But be careful on that, because back then religious folk were more afraid to go for psychological help too. So some of that could have just been undiagnosed.

My point is that the president & queen don't deign to come convince me they exist. The fact that they don't doesn't speak to their existence or non-existence, but merely to my own insignificance.

I'm not saying God doesn't care about you. What I am saying is that your argument is very illogical. Therefore, I can only assume that you choose not to believe for other reasons.

I only know what you've shared with us here. Is there something you're itching to get off your chest?

Well the whole point is I didn't grow up in much of a religious setting. My dad is Jewish.

I went to church here and there but it wasn't like I had some type of strict Christian upbringing.

We never said grace before dinner and when my brother and I would go over to my neighbors house (they were Filipino) and when they said grace we were trying are hardest not to burst out laughing.

I'd say if an average American family was a 5 in terms of religious upbringing then we were a 2 or a 3.

As far as strictness, if 5 was average my parents were a 1 or a 2. The house was the neighborhood hangout. It was raided by the police when I was 18 if you want to get an idea of how non-religious the household was....

Just because I say God is deaf, blind, and mute doesn't mean I am putting out some sort of inner fire burning inside of me due to my fundamental Christian upbringing (your words).

God = deaf (logically you have to agree, you can talk His ear off and you'll never get a response)

God = mute (DUH!!! Nobody has heard an audible sound from the invisible guy upstairs for thousands of years and back then human stupidity was at a thousands year high)

India, gun buyback and steamroll.

I'm not trying to lay out a grand argument for the existence of God. Merely responding to the snide statement made earlier that one would only believe in the existence of God if God called him and that by the fact that God hadn't, he can safely conclude God doesn't exist.

Neither the president nor the queen profess to love me as my father! And they do regularly appear in public, on television, give interviews, etc. So it is your argument that is illogical!! :bonk:
