Just about the file the I-130.

The income requirement is at least 18,300. But this is going up to $20,000? right.

My husband makes 23,500 (this is his starting salery at this job and is due to go up soon as he does skilled work).

If it goes up to 20k we are kinda on the boarderline (unless his wages go up before filing), should we get an affidavit of support as well?

What do others think?

Im not 100% i can get one, because his relatives have dependants.

Second question, he has only really worked fulltime for the last year. Before this he was out of work or only worked for a few months. What does- filing 3 years of taxes mean? what does this have to show?

Affidavit of support will be needed later, in about 5 months or so, not when filing the I-130.

Just needs to show current and future income will exceed 125% poverty line, and attach past year IRS return, at the time needed will be 2010 return or transcript.

As for what to attach to the I-864 when needed later:

Hi,

So im still confused. He earns over the 125% line, so why do you think we need submit an affidavit of support later on?

Im not sure i can get one as already stated. Is his income not enough at 23,500?

To clarify- the last 3 years isnt 'required' only the last year- but can help? if he has a letter and paysnubs that can help as well. Is that correct?

Affidavit is REQUIRED from the visa petitioner, No Affidavit of support, then NO green-card, and NO CR-1 visa.

It is a document that swears under penalty of perjury, that income stated is true and correct, and that the government can legally come after the petitioner/sponsor for any and all means tested support that the government may give the immigrant.

Joint sponsor will need an income that can support their family and the immigrant.

If Petitioner's income is sufficient then no joint sponsor is needed.

Doesn't sound like you need a co-sponsor. Good luck!
