I am leaving to visit my baby in t-minus 25 hours!

I get SO giddy before I get to see him. They might as well hire a monkey and sit him in my chair for the week before I leave. He'd probably get more work done that I do.

I know how lucky I am getting to see him every 4-6 weeks, and I feel like I could dance on the ceiling. I can only imagine the sheer excitement of going months and months (years?) without seeing one another and then finally getting to reunite.

When's the next time for everyone else?

I leave Friday morning for Mexico for 4 days. I'm lucky too and see my baby about every 6 weeks. But it gets harder and harder to come back home knowing that he should already be home with me. Thankfully I'm going to a part of Mexico that hurricane will not be visiting.

I mean, really, if I was so miserable that I couldn't stand it anymore, I could put a plane ticket on a credit card and spend the weekend with him. I wish everyone had that luxury. Just knowing it's a possibility makes the days a little easier to get through.

Wow how can you all afford all of this (the traveling and taking time off work)? First, let me say "buen viaje" and happy visiting to all who are getting ready to visit. Since I started visiting Javier in July, 2005, I have been to Mexico 4 times (one time was for our failed interview). Each trip cost us about $3,000 so we can't really afford to do these trips more regularly (which is why I'm wondering how some of you do it). I actually just got back from Mexico on the 20th, after spending 4 days as husband and wife and now we're in for the long haul...it's probably going to be next April before I see my sweet hubby again since we're flat broke from all this visiting and my time off from work is running out.

Paid holidays are my best friend.

We normally just do extended weekends, so like this upcoming weekend, I'm taking Friday off from work, but Monday is a paid holiday. So I get two days (plus the weekend, four) with my baby, with only taking one day off from work.

As far as other money, we split the plane tickets, which run between $500-$600. So $250-$300 a person per month isn't that big of a deal. And we don't really spend a lot of money when we are together. Normally we are just so happy to be in the same room that we just veg out on his couch.

With airport parking and food and stuff. The trips probably cost us about $800 each time. So, $400 a month isn't that bad.

I did that once...planned my second trip around my birthday (and Thanksgiving) since I got 2 days off from work paid, but the plane tickets were so outrageously more expensive for traveling around the holiday that we decided we probably couldn't do that again. I'm also the only one of the two of us who is gainfully employed, and to say that is even stretching it...
