My fiancé and I will be married Feb 13.... We will be filing AOS right away. My question is, we have plans to visit some of his family in Florida March 20th and his K-1 expires March 2. Since we are not leaving the country is this a problem? Can he just show his Jamaican ID or will he need his passport? Can he show the marriage certificate as proof?

Congratulations for you wedding tomorrow. Florida is still in the US darl so no worries at all. Where are you flying from? You don't need passport for internal travel just carry marriage certificate in case and pending AOS if asked questions. But enjoy Florida it is beautiful we go there a lot as have family there i Orlando. Have a ball.

Congrats on upcoming wedding! Carrying his passport with the visa in it and your marriage cert is all that you will need at this point (if that). As long as you stay in the United States, it will all be ok :)

Invictus..

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the Pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll.

I am the master of my fate:

I am the captain of my soul.

Actually it does. As a women most of your ID is in your maiden name (mine was) so I needed a marriage cert to prove the name on the AOS docs was me.

Hey V. As a woman (married/single) it will not matter as long as the name matches the name on the document/s he/she will use during the trip for identification purposes. If A Woman (or Man) book/reserve a travel with the airline then all that is required is for the name/s to match. So if the Married person books the trip with the maiden name then that is what they will look for... in turn if they booked the travel with the "new last name" then they WILL need the supporting document/s otherwise the airlines does not know if you are married / single since that is not relevant for US domestic travels.

For this to be required the Traveler or the Booking Agent would have made a mistake with the name where proof of identity is questioned.

Oh I wasn't referring to travel specifically (except in instances where the GC is in married, passport is in maiden, you need a marriage cert to prove the GC is you)... I was referring to if pulled up by ICE they'll need it to prove the NOA is theirs. Until all ID is uniform it's safer to make sure you have your bases covered.
