NVC FILERS - FOR October 2010

I know what you mean. I'm still waiting for my hubbys SSN. I can't wait to file my taxes...hopefully it will come in the next two weeks.

Just take your hinney to your local SSN office and ask them to look up your husband in SAVE database. If they find him there, apply for a SSN. Chances are they already have issued your husband's SSN. You just haven't received the hard copy. If this is true, SSN office can jot down the number on a paper and give you the number. You can use it to file your taxes. That's what I plan to do in 2 more weeks. Apparently you want to wait at least 3 weeks (after POE) before wasting your time at SSN office.

So far, my baby is here with me now for 3 full days and have to say that having him here with me is better than I ever thought, even in my wildest dreams, it could be!!!

POE was very smooth. I just had to wait for him a long time because there were a lot of people that had to wait to go through customs. But when I finally saw him (actually he saw me first) walking through through the doorway into the exit area of the terminal, I just was overcome with joy! He said that they just took the package from the Consulate and opened it, looked through it briefly and took a fingerprint of his index finger. He signed a paper and that was it!

All the worry and the long wait and the financial strain has all been worth it.

I'm very sure now that the best is yet to come!

Glad to hear everyone's having an awesome time.

Other than my family feud, I'm having a great time with my wife. It's sunny here today and I'm scheming to get out of work a bit early if I can. Would like to take the wife on a long-ish drive and away from all the familial shi*storms.

If you are flying solo and with just your carry on, should be enough. You will be transferring from domestic terminal to domestic terminal. You shouldn't have to pass through security again. I say that's enough time. And most flights from Chicago are at least 20 minutes late.

If you have never been to Chicago, prepare yourself for rude a**h*les. All Chicago people are rude.

Thanks IS,

I have not been in Chicago, since I flew there coming back from Vietnam, in 1970.

I understand "rude", I lived in Cleveland 25 years.

On this flight, I would be coming back from China with 1 larger case of my wife's stuff,

and one small carry on, with more of her stuff. I get to bring the cloths on my back. :wow:

thanks, IS...

I thought you said you are coming from LAX to Chicago.

If you are coming to Chicago straight from China, you want to allow more time between your connection flights. All international flights comes to Terminal 5. All domestic flights leave from Terminal 3. You have to take a frigging tram to get from one terminal to another. Not only that, you have to clear security again. If this is the case, 1 hour and 20 minutes is not enough. You need more time.

Oops, sorry IS. I did not type the information correctly. I will be coming back from China, flying Shanghai to Lax, and Lax to Chicago, and Chicago to Tenn. Last year coming back from Shanghai to Lax, it took 2 and 1/2 hours to get off the Lax flight, and connect with my Delta flight to Atlanta, barely made it. I am still trying to find flights from Tenn to Chicago and then to China, but so far cost more, than going to Lax.

You'll be arriving at domestic terminal and going onto a domestic flight. So 1 hour and 20 minutes is enough. IMO. If your LAX-ORD flight doesn't get delayed.

Don't they have direct flights from ATLANTA to CHINA?
