First day at work after coming back today. I couldn't be happier with my wife than I am now. She's lovely and very charming--made with sugar, spice, and everything nice.

I had a great time in Bangladesh. Of the 8 days, I stayed at my in-laws for 6 days. I was treated like a royalty. It was embarrassing. My wife's mother and father are good people. May they be eternally blessed.

Now life it awesome except for the family drama that is sure to follow and has started following. Loto will know exactly what I'm talking about if he or his wife are avid fan of Indian drama serials. I hope things don't run that amok. My mother is upset that my wife got her a saree which appears to be cheap. I'm going to go all religious up yours now. In Islam, Muslims are taught that when someone gifts you even the useless hoof shaving of a goat, you are accept it with grace and thank the gift giver. Apparently this is one part of Islam, a few member of my family (and probably the whole Indian culture) has decided to not follow. Well my friends, should you ever gift me even the pus of your wound, then I shall thank you and return in kinds. CHANGE starts with me and with those whom I have influence over, namely my wife.

My wife did not like, and had a poor attitude, and comments of the first gifts I took to her. I said, "no problem, let me see those a minute". Then I took the gifts and dropped them in the garbage can. If my gifts of jewelry, camera, etc. does not cost alot, no problem. I appreciate the thought of anyone to give me any gift. To me the thought of "to give" should be more important than the cost of the gift.

I'm like you brother. In my life, I have never really received a lot of gift being a guy. Especially a guy with absolutely not birthday gift. When someone gives me something as gift, I will accept it graciously. And so should everyone. As you say the thought counts and not the value or the price. I'll continue to gift everyone everything I can and on appropriate time.

I gave my aunt some gifts. She and her husband are filthy rich. But my gifts amounted to about $100. I gave it out of love. To hell with her if she thinks it's cheap. I can't be arsed with people's petty mentalities.

I'll let you in on a personal event from my life. One day, long ago (must be 4/5 years ago) was walking to the vending machine with one dollar in my hand. That 75 cents bag of Doritos was calling me. But suddenly I felt I should save the dollar and give it to my wife instead. I saved that very same dollar for that many years and I gave this dollar to my wife yesterday. She was really happy and gave me a huge hug. Though it was a dollar, she appreciated the meaning, thought, and the effort. Like Loto's wife, my wife's side is loaded. So a dollar is worthless to her as far as money goes. Yesterday, I loved my wife even more than I did before.

In retrospect I should have bought something more substantial for my mother seeing as how she was ill. As always, it was Indigoskies mistakes and he gladly takes the blame and learns from me. Won't happen another time. I'll buy my mother the most expensive saree I could afford. And I'm not gifting anyone anything else ever again that doesn't cost a lot of money. The drama that follows isn't worth it. It's better to say I don't buy gifts and to have to explain why your gift costs less.

Getting use to the Chicago air may take some time for your wife. When I moved to Cleveland, Ohio, took some time to get use to it. The lakes make the air more humid. When I moved to Virginia, took some time to get use to, with the elevation here.

When I go to China, the pollution is the problem there for me. No getting use to that, just worse everyday, cough-spit, cough-spit, cough-spit......... :wacko:

Oh boys and girls, suddenly lot of postings here, after Indigo's return :star: Glad to see it!

I was just logging here once a while due to other recent personal activities. Closing is coming soon (bit issues with strict loan underwriting etc.), changing the job in few weeks time etc.

Re: gift - As Indigo said, my wife is also like his wife.

My wife's younger sister's marriage is fixed on Sep 24th and we all need a trip. Mine will be shorter though. We were surprised when her father transferred money for all our round trip tickets last week to her account :innocent:

I have a good news, guys, to share.

I am joining as Senior Oracle Architect in one of the financial companies in NJ (I can't reveal the client name here due to the confidentiality) to manage their corporate clients' wealth and assets (I might see lot of trailing zeros on the computer screen :star:). Again, as I prefer it is a long term consulting role.

I have given 2 weeks notice to my current client with whom I was working as Consultant since Jan 2008. I truly believe my current client is one of the best in terms of the flexibility and responsibility. I hope and wish the new client also be the same.
