OBX,

In fact, condo in Edison closing didn't work out. We are renting in Plainsboro which is just 10 miles away from my new work location.

You are due for ROC. Did you file it?

Loto

Oh, sorry it didn't work out.

I'm due to file tomorrow actually but we are waiting for a tax transcript. Long story but it took a long, long time to explain to our accountant how to file our 2008 taxes for the year I was still in Canada after we were married. And we were paying him!!whistling.gif Anyway the amended return has been processed but not yet posted into their system, so once we have the transcript I'm ready to go.

Sometimes the SS card doesn't come in the mail though you checked the box. We did and it never came in the mail part of it has to do with JFK. You can go an apply at your local SSA office.

We received my wife's green card yesterday.

Congrats on GC and SS.

Congrats Heather.

A note about those going to SSN office to apply for your LR's SSN. Go in and tell them that you've already spoken to DHS. Tell the SSN person that DHS said SSN office should look up the LR on their SAVE database. The SSN guy should look up the LR in SAVE DB. If LR is found in the DB, then apply for the SSN. If LR is not found in the SAVE DB, don't apply for SSN. Leave SSN office and come back in few day again. Do the same steps as above.

Good luck.

My wife, the LR, was found in SAVE DB on 17-MAR-2011. So we applied for the SSN. We were told that we'd get the SSN in two weeks. So by 31-MAR-2011. I'm hoping we'd get it this week, by 24-MAR-2011. I'll keep you'll posted. Sorry for not being more involved in VJ. Life is hectic for me now. Way more than I hoped it would be.

My wife received her SSN today. I came home to find this little surprised. We applied for SSN on 17-MAR-2011 and got it on 21-MAR-2011.

I even finished filling my tax return. I had finished filling out all the information since early February even before my wife's POE. The only missing info was my wife's SSN. I quickly plugged that into H&R Block software and filed the return before heading off to my uncle's house for dinner. Yay. Will update timeline tomorrow.
