Hey everyone,

I'm still waiting for my GC. I used my AP travel document for the first time to go back to visit family in Canada. I'm back in the U.S. now and my cousin is getting married in March.

Am I able to use my AP to travel to Toronto or do i have to wait for my GC???? :help: I'm confused about how many times you can use your AP.

**No Biometrics letter recieved yet ( over two months waiting

12-16-2010 Biometrics done!! (NO walkin. Got an appointment letter

earlier in the week from Dallas bio office.

12-17-2010 Got email EAD being sent!

12-18-2010 Got AP in the mail!

12-22-2010 Got EAD in the mail

you can use it many times w/in its 1-yr validity =)

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Nov 06, 2010: CS & CQ got married in Las Vegas

Nov 26, 2010: AOS-EAD-AP package sent out

Nov 29, 2010: Package delivered at 1:12pm

Dec 10, 2010: Received text messages from USCIS regarding receipt numbers for AOS, EAD, and AP

Dec 14, 2010: Received three I-797C from mail

Dec 18, 2010: Touched

Jan 05, 2011: Received RFE for I-485 (email)

Jan 10, 2011: Received RFE for I-485 (hardcopy)

Jan 11, 2011: Sent response to RFE for I-485 (Fedex/UPS do not deliver to PO Box. Only USPS does and it takes 2 days even for Express Post)

Jan 13, 2011: Response to RFE delivered

Jan 14, 2011: Touched

Jan 15, 2011: Touched

Jan 18, 2011: Received Biometric Appointment letter in mail

when you applied for the travel permit, did you mark "re-entry" or "advance parole" ??? I'm confused... it says "AP" is only for medical or business reasons, but we just want to visit family while the AOS is pending...

It's Advance Parole.. one of the eligibility criteria is a pending I-485, if you look closer.

To answer CQ's question - yes, there exists both single-use and multiple-entry AP. However, AP for pending I-485 is routinely approved and doesn't even need an explanation for the purpose of travel. Everyone I have seen asks for multiple and gets multiple, though I don't know what would happen if someone ticked the "single-use" box on the document. It's possible even if they did that, they'd get multiple because that is the standard for a pending I-485.
