You just need the right equipment. I have no idea what it's called in English, my grandma taught me how to do that in India when I was 12. A really heavy but not too sharp knife-like object and a stone slab. BAM! Just don't hit your own hand.

If you're advocating violence, I cannot go there with you, buddy. Perhaps you could share this knowledge with Paul?

If you're implying you'd like to bust JohnSmith's head open, I should warn you that is against TOS.

I mean't that figuratively of course, as in a "tough nut to crack".

Nice backtrack. I should report you. LWN's like you think you can get away with violent rhetoric but when an RWN goes there - the sky is falling!

yanno what really confuses me about this gw bs? even if humans could reverse or stop whatever temp trend we have or have not caused. at the gw summit, the counties pushing for regulation were told to piss off by many developed nations & most developing nations. so, why would anyone keep pushing regulation on their own country putting themselves at a disadvantage in a global economy?

seriously, please explain this to me.

there's no explanation. george w bush's middle finger to kyoto was one of the things i think he did right. any treaty that doesn't include the bric countries isn't worth a bucket of warm spit.

I believe global warming is real. But I also agree with your point to some extent. I really doubt that there is any way possible that we can do very much at this point to undo what has already been done. The CO2 in the atmosphere now will persist a long time, even if no further CO2 was added. We cannot stop producing CO2. We probably cannot slow its production or even hold it at current levels. We may not even be able to hold the rate of increase steady! I am personally quite pessimistic about the futility of expecting global consensus on seriously tackling this problem. I hope that our planet and its ecosystems will be able to adjust quickly enough to prevent major species extinctions. I am glad I live in a northern location! Seems like karma that the mideast and gulf coast areas may become relatively unliveable if the worst occurs.

In the end, the planet will survive, and some species will too. Life will persist.

Humans will probably not, but as we are a dead end of evolutionary tree... who cares.

Meanwhile, the end of the human world is going to be an exciting event... I am glad I will live to see it

Government control. The vast majority of government actions are about power and money. GW is about both. It is also a global welfare program. By inventing "value" and giving it to something which doesn't exist, such as carbon credits, countries that have no visible means of support suddenly have a way to confiscate money from productive people and countries. Most of which would line the pockets of corrupt politicians, but that is OK with the GW folks because they are corrupt politicians anyway.

The problem for the global warming folks, is that in order to sell such an scheme, they have to market it as a "crisis" something that we have to do something about immediately. Now that they lost the House of Representatives the funding for it is cut-off. There is no possibility their agenda will be implemented soon and they lose the initiative to say it is a crisis. Something simply cannot be a crisis forever. If they keep saying the barn is going to burn down...and after 10 years, 12 years, 40 years the barn hasn't burned down...well, you see.

In the end, the planet will survive, and some species will too. Life will persist.
