You go to the church and speak to the pastor to book the church. Many places require marriage counseling before using their church. Usually a short program between you and your SO with the priest before you get married.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

I have a blog about planning my wedding on a k1 visa here. I mentioned how we worked on the church wedding.

Have you gotten your visa yet? Or noa2? what part of the process are you in now?

First thing you need to do is find a parish and a priest. Are you both Catholic?

Then you need to have a canonical interview and pre-cana seminar. If one party is not Catholic you will need a dispensation.

Make sure you bring your baptism and confirmation certificate with you to the US (It has to be valid for 6 months so you will need a new copy)

It's not that hard to do it, goodluck!

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Thank you, VJ! smile.png

We are planning a rather large church wedding, although it is difficult to plan exactly because we have had to reserve the church a year in advance and put a deposit, even though we know we might not get the visa in time and might lose the deposit. With that said there is another issue, my fiance is Catholic and I'm not.

We've had to approach this from several directions- from his local parish in London, from my local parish in Maryland and working in concert with the church in California where we are planning to get married.

The first place you should start is with your local church if you are Catholic because you'll need your baptism and confirmation, etc. documentation, if otherwise I would start with the church you intend to get married in and they will tell you what you need.

Church weddings usually cost a small fee to use the venue and you will also have to pay the pastor/priest who officiates the ceremony a modest fee, you may also need to pay small fees/donations to the congregation or parish for additional help on the day of your wedding like their musicians, etc.

Good luck!

Kitty25, I tired to send you some resources but you aren't able to receive messages. If you check page 23 of the december filers thread under K1processing forum you will find tons of wedding links that I posted.

http://catholicweddinghelp.com/ This website was also helpful to answer some of my preliminary wedding questions.

There's a lot of websites that have information on them to help with wedding planning. I'm doing a church wedding too and have gotten a lot planned. My wedding will be a Protestant one so I can't help with anything for Catholic specifics but if you have any questions about how I'm doing it, send me a message.
