Ontario, Canada Questions

Filed: K-3 Visa Country: Canada
Timeline

I am in the U.S. My husband is in Ontario, Canada.

We received an NOA2 for our I-129/K3 visa. Wondering what happens next, I checked the guide - but it seems to end abruptly at that point.

I have a few questions, if anyone could be kind enough to answer or point me in the right direction. I looked at the embassy websites and USCIS websites, but didn't find the answers there.

On our NOA2 it lists the consulate as: Ottawa. However, I have been told that Ottawa does not handle visas and that we will need to go to Montreal. Is there any reason/significance that our NOA2 says Ottawa?

What happens now? I know that the NVC will forward our visa petition to the NVC and that the NVC will then send it to the appropriate consulate. Will the NVC contact us, and, if so, what will they be sending? Will the consulate contact us, and if so, how, and what will they be sending?

What monies are due from here out? I believe there is a $100 fee at the consulate. Are there any other fees?

Regarding the medical examination - this is necessary for the I129/K3 and the 130 as well, yes?

I have looked far and wide for a list of physicians in Ottawa/Ontario who are certified/"panel" physicians allowed to do visa medical exams. I can't find one anywhere! I was hoping we might be able to get a head start on this by having the medical exam done now - but how do we find a physician? We already have all of his immunization records, proof of negative HIV/syphyllis/Tb, negative chest x-ray, etc.

When will we be directed to file an interview appointment? Would it be wise to go ahead and schedule one now?

Please, if anyone knows these answers, or knows specifically where to find these answers, let me know. I don't mind doing my own research but I haven't had any luck so far at any of the usual sites!

Thanks so much!

Green

Ottawa! Thats a new one.

Weird. Hopefully the NVC will straighten it out.

Your approved petition should travel to the NVC, have a case number assigned to it, and then what happens I forget. I think it goes to Montreal where it sits for five months till they feel they have time to see you.

evergreen, it appears you have approvals for I-130 and I-129f. Are you pursuing K3? If so, your husband in Ontario will be receiving Package 3 from Montreal. It comes in about 3 weeks. At the same time, you'll receive a different package with instructions for becoming his sponsor, etc.

I've answered you in the K3 forum. Meanwhile, read all the guides on this site. Do a signature to give people a better snapshot. (My Controls > Personal Profile > Edit Signature). Best of luck.

Questions: What now?

Where can we find a panel physician in or around Ottawa, Ontario?

www.panelphyscian.com --- I think Dr. Seiden has a offfice in Montreal.

When can we expect a case number from the NVC for our I129/K3?

If it's been more than a week since approval call the NVC and ask for it.

When can we expect "packet 3" from the consulate for either our I129 or I130? About a month after approval

Why does our NOA2 for our I129F list Ottawa as our consulate?

Call NVC and get that straightened out asap. Should be Montreal. Edited by Buttons

Feb. 15/ 07 --- GC approved

Nov. 17/09 -- I-751 sent (Day 1)

Thanks for your answers so far.

My husband is in Ottawa, Ontario - 2-3 hours from Montreal, 3-4 hours from Toronto (I think). Are there any panel physicians closer to us than Montreal or Toronto? I tried a google search but had no luck. Is there a list of panel physicians somewhere online?

the NOA2 likely had Ottawa as the consulate because you may have put that on the petition. No worries, NVC will sort it out and Montreal will be sending your husband the package 3 instructions.

He won't be able to have his medical exam until he has a case number at the consulate tho, most panel physicians won't even make the appointment without the case number.

If he decides to go with the K3, he can then move to the US with that and then apply to AOS, rather than return to Canada for a CR1. Its up to you of course. Or he can just skip the K3 and wait on the CR1 stuff, which will be a few more months, but when he gets that he'll be able to work just a couple weeks after entering the US (and when he can find a job), rather than have to wait on an EAD from the K3.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!

Or if he gets the K3 visa he could come to the US and then go back for the CR1 interview... that way you don't need to file for AOS... sometimes this way works out better, sometimes, the K3 and AOS does...
