Debt - When does this come up?

When does the child support issue or student loan or owed tax come up during the K-i/K-3 visa process? Is it before the Petition is approved, or when the beneficiary goes for the interview, or the Consulate does its own digging again after poing through everything else before? Assuming there is an outstanding balance will they outright deny the visa and have the beneficiary re-ally or that's it and start the whole process all over again?

Child support issues only impact whether the US Citizen maintains a valid passport, not the visa process itself. Student loans have no impact at all. Owing tax is not a problem unless the IRS has put a lien on your assets and income, and then it becomes an issue at the interview, requiring a cosponsor or joint sponsor, as applicable.

I don't think debt is included. Do not include your debt.

What is important are your assets.

You need:

Copy of your W2 for 3 years.

Copy of your IRS Income Tax Return or Income Tax Transcript for 3 years.

Copy of current paycheck

Letter of Employment from your Employer

401K value

Bank Statements

Current value of vehicle owned (kbb.com) and vehicle title showing you own it.

Land/House properties

Life Insurance Policy showing amount of benefits.

One your fiancee is here in the US and adjust status, you will need to show your current W2 that you are above the poverty guidelines for the number of household and you need a copy of your IRS Income Tax Return or Income Tax Transcripts for 3 years.
